Any particular reason why you want the trainee tea boy at Renault to do it rather than a more well established specialist?
If you want to look after it properly, take it somewhere else.
With the wheel trims on, it just looked like every other cheap shed pootling around the roads. Perfectly fine way of getting from A to B.
However, with the wheel trims off, & painted green, it looks like you are trying to make your £300 shed look cool.
This is where you fail.
That hurts my eyes, hope it was cheap :dead:
Mpg wise, i averaged 28-29mpg on the motorway, low-mid 20's round town.
Fairly cheap to run bar that though.
Madness isn't it. To be honest, since the day i passed my test at 17 (im now 30) i have been in awe of Sandy's work with Pug engines (& Colin Satchell's work with chassis' development) and love reading about their latest developments and projects - still pushing the boundaries of vehicle designs...
I wanted him to do one for me too, but he doesn't have paypal, & suggested i send him cash in with the steering wheel lol.
Great if you are local to him though!!!
And Sandy's figures usually come from an engine dyno, not a rolling road ...
Also, ultimate power figures mean nothing imho, driveability, race pace & results are ultimately just as important surely.
Dave Kift's iirc?
Great to see Sandy putting some input into a racecar thread - some excellent knowledge to be shared! Both in terms of engine building and/or other forms of motorsport no doubt. Feel free to post some videos of Colin's 205 as well btw ;)
Look forwards to reading more about the...
Lovely, ive been keeping an eye on their prices as of late too - just worry about the engines issues!! Although coming from a TVR im sure itll be fine ;)

Re: 197 Gearbox's
No they dont. Was phased in half way through iirc.
Because they are cheaper basically, i paid £6400 from Steve at RSport in March this year for a nimbus '57 plate with 30k miles, a new gearbox & Recaros. At the time, an R27 was £8.5k. Come to think of it, that would have...
Re: 197 Gearbox's
Yes. Which is exactly why i bought one.
They are basic spec though, mine had no aircon either, but did have Recaros. Steering wheel and dash are more plasticy/poverty spec though iirc, doorcards are different (albeit better as the handle is in the middle of the door instead...
To be honest, i couldnt build anything for £12k that was quicker than the Teg, but i could probably build a saxo for £10k that would be pretty much at the top of the 1.6 class in Tin Tops. The only reason i havent, is that i dont have £10k lol.
Imho, if its your 1st ever foray into motorsport, you buy a pre-built car, unless you have bottomless pockets.
Many threads on this very forum prove that time & time again unfortunately.
Depends on the spec of course, but most of the CSCC ones are eligible for tin tops as well i believe.
Proper spec 106 Gti or Saxo Vts with a Sandy Brown race engine.
This would have been perfect in fact: http://www.nick-charles.co.uk/for-sale.html
A 106 with one of his engines did this the other day:
Some people might recognise the following video (Daniel posted it before), Dave Kift's 106...
Learn to drive, ie get tuition. Buy a car already done, dont try & run before you can walk. Essentially in that order.
I could go racing for £5k all in tomorrow (easily), thats car, necessary modifications, licence, race gear, etc.
Give me £10k and ill give you a car that winning its 1.6 class...
