Flog the alternator, put money into the new epas.. But depends how desperate you want it. I did read someone running the pas pump disconnected to act as a not pulley.
Just had a read on the big screen (pc) good job all round mate, like what you did with the breather adaptation. So are you going to ceramic coat it? heard mixed reviews about coating the manifold, could weakening the head gasket or any weak point in the manifold (if any) on reason why I didn't...
Greasy hand on your iphone? stop being a tart Martin.
Good effort on the box removal, I was tempted to pop over actually, but didn't have my CBA vest for the Croydon badlands ;) So you went for the Gripper in the end, glad it went to a good home.
Yes it will be interesting having never driven one without it, but its something I have been wanting to do for a while now. What cams are you thinking Tom?
Little bit more work done on the car today, got the Ezi bleed out and blew the rear lines through after removing the calipers and brake lines, also tidied up the engine loom some more, just waiting on the arrival of some P clips before I can secure the loom (its still the Renault loom so nothing...
Thanks mate, there's still so many other jobs to do on the car, but its just a case of funds really...next job is to weld in the seat rails, making the cog lower, also some jack points (where the originals are), also a new brake servo and lines.
Long over due update....
I only started working on the car last month, mainly due to weather and work (shock) the main aim was to strip all the undercarriage components down to clean and inspect and replace any worn items.
So work carried out: Remove and check;
Suspension
Brakes
Drive shafts...
The Merlin (Faulkner) springs are pretty good value for money, so it wont hurt to play about. I still ran helper springs all round fyi.
I no longer run that set up, im on ASTs with custom spring rates now.
So your running the Spax coilovers all round?
Nothing wrong with running shorter springs, 7" should be fine up front and I run 9" on the rear... i would run 450lbs all round for your application. HOWEVER, be advised that your shocks will be on or just over the valve limit.
just seen this... depends on how hevey the car is and what tyres you run, half those figures mentioned was if running slicks, believe you are running msa 1a/b list spec tyres.
I was running 400lb rear and 350lb fronts (always stiffer at the rear) now im well over 500lb all round, with stiffer...
Gutted for you mate as mentioned before, did you find out why actually gave way in the box?
If your saving for a deposit for a house then just buy a second hand box plenty come up for less than £100, and it might last longer than the car. A refurb could cost more, renault put the price up on...
Excellent going mate, cant wait to see how this goes now, surprised you haven't got the box sorted yet? Knew you should have bought mine ;) however in hindsight I never sold it in the end.
I wont be at launch day, car will no way be ready, but will be at the season opener at Rock in April.
I would have dynoed the car with the tyre pressures you run on track hot. I.e operating temperature, as mentioned above.
Hmmmm I reckon due to the polo rads small size and the inadequate airflow meant that the rad was hotter than normal and the weakest point gave in i.e the rad bung.
