I'd love to go to the RSport factory as well, if its gonna be organised for next year would give me an incentive to get the ph1 finished to go in. Is it normally organised on the www.renaultsport.co.uk site?
Russ
Should be another interesting project, do you have a series in mind that you want to compete in, whats the class structure etc?
BenG, i'll take that bet!

Whats the story with the rocker cover gasket then, i think i have a leak from there also and had inteded to do it while my engine is out. Is it a massive job, thought it was just a case of rocker cover off replace gasket and an refit, is it not just a straight forward rocker/cam cover then...
Just had a look at scots project thread, looks really good, great idea on the strut tops, guess the best time to do it is when the shell is stripped for doing all the other fab. How much are the M3 top mounts then and are they a simple fot for the clio ast dampers/other dampers?
Russ
Hmm, interested to see some pics of the mods needed, take it you have to plate the original strut top area and cut a hole to suit an eccentric type adjustable topmount that normally fits an M3?
Russ
What for? Looking good, thought about using aerocatches on my boot but decided to stick with the oe latch instead. Be nice to see the pics as it gets dipped + goes throught the process, good luck mate ;)
Russ
Beaten to it by wheel nuts, it is an F20c out of a Honda S2000. Coming along nicely chris, doors look similar to mine although i've taken the horizontal and vetical strenghening bars out as well. Like to think my ph1 will be 900kgs too without having it dipped, cage is circa 40kgs though.
Russ
Can be done lifting the engine off the subframe aparantly but its fiddly. My engine is coming out anyway + i have a small crack in mine, rubber gasket was £25 or so from renault i think.
Russ
No joy then? Are the F4R's in any way similar, wiring wise, to the engines in the haynes manual? Probably gonna end up doing it the hard way and stripping all the original engine loom down o see what goes where.
Russ
Hi there, just wondering if anyone can get hold of an engine loom wiring diagram + standard ecu pinouts for a ph1 172. Converting my car to standalone management, either emerald or dta and need some info. Also does anyone know what sensors can and cant be reused with the emerald/dta?
I'm...
Looking very nice mate, the custom rad/cooler makes the conversion imo. Be nice to see pics with the bumper off etc but i'm sure you're too busy driving it for that! What filter is it running at the minute and what other mods do you have, matched inlets, exhaust etc? Thanks.
Russ
Interesting project this, will be keeping a close eye on it. Who's doing your acid dipping btw? Someone near dudley by any chance or do you know anyone else? I know a lad that had his mk1 escrot rally car dipped there and they made a right mess of it, know of other stories too that would make me...
Right, another small update, been very time consuming today as nothing seems to fit like it should. Managed to get both rear lower stays tacked in, the dash bar altered and tacked in as well. Main time was spent messing around with the front strut triangulation, done one side as you can see from...
John i cant weld either, my mate is a proper welder/fabricator and thats him in the pics. Like you say its anoying not being able to weld as there so much you can do but to buy all the gear, decent welder etc its more cost effective to get someone else to do it, properly as well!
Powey, those...
Started on the cage today, not done a great deal but got the fundamental bits just tacked in, the footplates, main hoop, front + rear upper sections and half a door bar each side so the cage is in the correct position, everything else can be tacked to it now and then properly welded up. Came...
Yeah, its just on a universal joint anyway. No different to having it lower on the standard adjuster only will be slightly lower. Gonna fit a proper quick release boss while i'm at it, splined fitting needs welding to the standard column.
Russ
Small update, spent a couple of hours doing a little bit this weekend. Hopefully cage will be going in next weekend, tried the main hoop in for size and its proper tight! Going to fab a bracket to hold the steering column in a more favourable position once the seat is fixed it, cable tie isn't...
John, not sure really, suppose the end result is worth the hassle you can have. Search in the motorsports section there is a thread about my Leon in there mate.
Russ
Seems they can do very little right tbh 2 mates recently have bought cc cages 1 for a 306 and 1 for a teg and they both had issues, how hard would you think it would be to send the right bits after they've paid good money for what is a built to order cage!
