    An Olympus I like..

Just seen this in Jessops, apparently only just come out last week. DSLR sensor in a retro little package, be amazing with a pancake prime as seen below.. http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/6148/Details.html Shame about the price though... might intimidate people less than a 40D...

    Welsh Waterfalls

Currently got a Cokin P-Wide angle holder and adapter with a 2 stop cokin filter, was all very cheap but the filter isn't very good and leaves a nasty colour cast. When I can justify the funds plan on going down the POTN recommended route.

    Opinions on Canon 1000D

Hope that didn't sound to negative because its a nice little starter camera, its similarly priced to Argos who have just the camera and lens, so its high street vs extra eBay junk that'll end up in the bin...

    Welsh Waterfalls

Wales is fantastic, only just dicovered it last year mountain biking in Afan, also went over to Pembrokeshire coasteering this trip, awesomeness!

    Welsh Waterfalls

Hey thanks all. Didn't have any filters with me, a polariser would maybe have helped bring out the colours and stop some light but it was shady enough under the trees to get the shutter down. If you plan on shooting anything with the sky in it, GND's are fantastic personally, need to buy...

    Help for my friend..

I'd personally tell my mates to buy into the same system as me = lenses for them but if thats not an idea tell him to go play with a few and look at the price of some longer glass.

My Boredom = Time Lapse Video

Very cool, take a while to stitch together? I realise your just messing around and it works well but personally its a bit jumpy, maybe try faster shutter speeds, should give a smoother look. More frames though after! Should give you a smoother look like this...

    canon 18-200 IS : 40d or 50d body

Purely down to how much you have to spend. Like i'd rather have a 40D + 17-55 f/2.8 IS over a 50D + 17-85 IS if money was an issue. Micro-adjustment, better screen and higher ISO options are nice features but cash in hand the 40D is still very capable and tempting for the saving.

    Bargain nifty-fifty for Canon users

Think I paid £30 a few years ago collected from HK :rasp:

    canon 18-200 IS : 40d or 50d body

In all honesty: Not sure how much you'll get but your overlapping a lot of range and would be better off with less higher quality kit IMO. What to get next all depends on what you want to shoot. Personally a great kit at a reasonable price would be: Ultra Wide: Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, Sigma...

    CANON EOS350D Opinions?

Its a very nice little starter, whilst I enjoy using my 40D many many times more my 350D probably produced most of my better pictures, its very capable. Have a look out for some official Canon refurbs, you might be able to get a 400D for a good price or 1000D, which has features like Live View...

    Time lapse photography?

So you've not got a DSLR at all? Did this on a Canon Ixus 75, not the same as using a DSLR but might be what you want.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUW3vs41K0k

Feedback pls on my btcc pics

I've not done panning shots myself but these look a very good start. Looking at the first picture, what focus mode were you using? One stop or Ai-Servo?

    Would you?

then unless I'm mistaken you'll want to be looking for 58mm thread filters...
  23. U

    Would you?

Depends, back in the day Jessops took me for my money and I foolishly paid £30 for a home branded 58mm CPL (you'll get a top of the line Hoya DMC for that money on eBay now). Then recently I paid £44 for a 77mm B&W MRC UV filter which I'm very happy with but then again it is protecting a pricey...
  24. U

    Would you?

No, like Hoya have a DMC range or Digital Multi-Coated filters and B&W have MRC or Multi Resistant Coating, just a sign that they are higher quality.
  25. U

    Would you?

Buying the cheapest ones you can find yes. You can get good prices on high end filters from Hong Kong still, just need to know what your looking for. Hoya DMC and B&W are a good start. Need to check what types of coating they have.

    EOS 500D vs 50D

All you need to do is hold them, I'd take a 40D over the 500D.

What you shooting, how long for, outdoors, can you use a laptop, is it a canon dslr?

    Light Tent

No reason why the kit lens won't do a good job, the 50mm has a very poor MFD so you'll struggle to get close to small products. Just stop the kit lens down to f/7-8 add some good lighting and it'll do a good job.

    Sunset Tips!

Lots of recommendations for Gradual ND filters, they are great for landscape work to help you exposure for a dark foreground and bright sky in balancing the light hitting the sensor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduated_neutral_density_filter If you bought a screw on ND filter this won't...
