With the 500D out you could see prices drop a little, the 450D deffo comes with better features but its up to you as to what feels better to use.
450D's are also appearing on the offical Canon refurb store..

Nice shots, like you say, some flash would really make a difference, you got everything else nailed down well. Some eBay flash triggers + old Manual flash + diffuser could be a good start.. ask on http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35 its a Canon kinda place but they'll still...
Wouldn't use it for tracking cars personally but shooting Manual is much easier using live view, exposure simulation and histogram to get everything right.
Ask on a proper camera geek forum like POTN, you'll get some good answers, that or have a look on here for a rough idea.. http://www.tamroneurope.com/flc.htm
Well the XXD and XXXD have exaclty the same range, I'd personally stick it on a G10 or XS or something, 40D + 17-55 f/2.8 IS + 430EX isn't very subtle sometimes lol
It'll be 18 months since the 450D, its always been 18 month cycles with the XXXD range. On that note I need to stay away from Canon forums, clearly to much boring info acquired!
It is expensive but the price will drop, good spec though, I'd still go for a 40D but that has some good features...
Flashgun is a good start, you'll need one you can bounce, the 430EX would be a good start.
Lens is up to you, a large aperture lens is going to allow for natural light shots but not essential with flash. So depends on what perspective you want but a 17-5Xmm should be a good start.
As for...
Probably two of Canons worst lenses, I'd get the Sigma 70-300 APO..

Or the new 55-250 IS..

Would highly recommend saving more for the 70-200 F4L as suggested but then again prices have gone through...
You'll lose auto focus and some IQ. Also extension tubes are very different to tele converters, they reduce your minimum focus distance and remove the ability to focus to infinity, used for close up/macro...
Edit: to slow!
DSLR's take flat pictures unless you change the settings for sharpness, contrast etc in camera. Stick them in photoshop, up the contrast a little and they'll look less flat instantly.
Check what batteries your flash takes best? Like NiHM or NiCd and what power, like 2000mAh or 2700mAh...? Not sure what it all means but my flash wanted 2500 upwards as far as I remember...

You'll want to use as many exposures as possible though, about 5, as you'll want to minimise any evidence that it is HDR.
40D should be better than the D80 on paper (which is probably on par with the older 30D) and around the same price... just depends on personal preference..
glare? flare? or just blown out?
Without blending multiple exposures you just need to try and find a balance. Using a higher ISO or a larger aperture is just going to make the windows blow out even more.
You need to use a higher f/number/lower ISO to expose for outside and increase the...
A little jealous, a new well priced prime thats AF-S and retains AF on crippled Nikon bodies... if your considering the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 this is well worth a look, cheaper and over half the weight, not always a good thing but make it nice and subtle on smaller cameras...
AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm...
Anything under what you'd pay for it new lol and depends on any lenses attached? Best place it to watch some on eBay and see what they go for... although there aren't many on there, imagine you could offer well below new price, not as in demand as Canon/Nikon bodys...
Welcome...just bringing this up to say there is a new version of the Cactus triggers coming called the V4, they should be a fair bit better than the V2.

Have a look at ukaskew's 3d picture, is this what you mean? Am sure you could also free the action, be hard to do, specially with a point and shoot but do-able.
Are you thinking of EXIF data?
http://www.digicamhelp.com/learn/glossary/exif.php
That picture has had the EXIF stripped but at a guess I'd say it was taken with a wide angle, not a fisheye and probably something like the Sigma 10-20.
