Every time you want to modify it.. put the cost of that into savings and soon you will have the money for a better car.
Keep yours clean, standard, and therefore easily sellable and when the time comes, upgrade.
So you're going to walk to work instead ?
I'm not (trying) to be an arse.. but 10k miles a year is really nothing to worry about, unless your commute is 20 miles of cobbled hills.
Say it costs you £500 a year in really extreme circumstances, add that to the £1k+ you're going to lose selling...
LOL @ miles. Cars are literally designed to be driven, and therefore put miles on.
What are you going to swap it for ? Ten grands worth of diesel BMW to save £10 a week in fuel ? Or a £500 dCi65 ?
All good except the weather. Could have definitely done with another 10 degrees. Sort it out for next time @Pacman.
Nice to see some new faces @Cramps and some old ones @Vicky. and @Kyle 86 !!

Your phone will be pushing out a solid fek-all watts... What did you...
Budget ? Requirements ? Experience ?
From someone that has about £5k worth of cameras and lenses sat in the cupboard (haven't bought anything for 5+ years), think about it properly before investing - I use my phone for at least 99% of my photography... Phone + Snapspeed (photoshop type app)...
Unless you know what colour it was, this is just guessing.
Could be steam, oil, coolant, fuel or a smoke bomb.
