Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Thanks buddy, the colour does seem intense in the pic, Im hoping with racing numbers on the side and a few other decals it will balance out...I did think about having another colour mixed in, maybe white....
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Thanks guys and thanks again Matt.
Quick update of day 1 at Spa, the car ran faultlessly, it felt so great to drive it again in track, made all the hard work over the past year pay off.
I had to re-learn the car, it drives totally different with the new...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
So today I spent the morning finishing off jobs on the Clio, the depasher solenoid seal arrived at the 11th hour so fitted that. Then I decided to bleed my brakes.....then hit a big problem, I snapped the rear bleed nipple and it was slowly weeping. Matt...
Ok, well l i can say is that the threads was never deeper anothet or the callipers have worn around the bolt throat area.
The washers have not changed the pad location, only 2mm (spacer thickness, I have actually used a spring washer now) of thread less, but still over over 10mm on each bolt.
My initial thoughts exactly.
Well I took the calliper bolts off and inspected, it seems that the thread depth is not deeper enough, i.e the bolt is bottoming out. I solved this issue by putting a washer under the bolt head to bring the bolt up from the thread end. Results solid as a rock.
Be...
Well done Ash, more balls than me lol Its all about getting involved and exploring, there are some good transmission books out there, bit expensive but worth it.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Managed to fit the Wilwood 4 pot callipers today, I also fitted some genuine Clio cup racer brake ducts, being second hand they was a little battered but still do the job.
These 4 pots are so light, they each weigh 2.2kg the standard callipers are 5.8kg...
Just fitting a set of second hand Wilwoods. Got them on but them is. Slight bit of movement, about 1mm side to side. Its where the calliper meets the alloy bracket. Iv tried tightening up the two allen key bolts, but still has movement.
Is this ok?
You have to remove wipers and scuttle panel, the pump just slides up from the bottle...make sure the rubber grommet does not come out.
The hardest part is removing the wipers as they will prob be seized, you will need a puller or molegrips of some kind. I would put copper slip on them when...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
I did think about moving them more forward but was away from the angle of the trumpet, suppose it doesn't matter really. I am going to make a bracket so I can slide a plastic sheet in, in the event of heavy rain.
Yes they did wrap it, wrapped it in...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
@Morgan, regarding the bonnet holes, im running the KTEC DCH bodies, these stick up more at an angle into the bonnet, so the holes are to aid in the airflow. 90% of the air skips over the top, the 10% makes a difference. The 2 larger holes at the back at to...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
When I searched on here, it was said that the bolts can be the cause, on inspection they did seem dry and tight...the seal does look dry but at the back it is wet so guessing its being pushed back at high speed and collecting there. Say that I may put some...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
I removed the old one with a screw driver, the rubber just perished away leaving the metal core, this popped up fairly easy. I put some workshop tissue in the head to stop crud from falling into the head. Will be fitting the seal tomorrow when it arrives...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
I tightened up all the cover bolts, cleaned and only 60 miles later was greeted with that mess. I inspected the seal and it was rock hard so guessing its the seal.
Thanks buddy :)
haha yea I could not resists...the holes in the windows was already...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
..and when things was looking on the up for the little Clio, was greeted with this..
I ordered a new De-phaser solenoid seal from Adam at Renault, should be arriving tomorrow (Sat) so another job to do before the weekend is up.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Dropped the car of yesterday to the guys at PVL limited in West Sussex for a colour change... will let the pics do the talking. :approve:
