Little interior upgrade - the old wheel looked a bit tatty and had ring indentations and other scuffs, so after discovering Royal Steering Wheels work and that they are 20 mins away, I booked in for a steering wheel refurb.
GTI TCR style, with perforated leather on the sides and red centre...
I was... I actually was close to buying one; but having had 2 years and 40k miles in a Leon FR I decided I wanted something slightly different - some Cupra's had the nice bucket seats but ultimately the dash/interior felt too samey until I got into 2018 cars which pushed my budget. I read the...
Nice Clubsport! My last GTI was white and I had a set of those wheels on it too; but think silver with the silver bodywork might not have been enough contrast - plus this grey hides brake dust a bit more so don't need to fuss with cleaning them as much! Ha
Having had a GTI before I was set for an R this time; but then realised a nice spec R was hard to find, a lot more £££££ and also attracts a bit more attention from the wrong kind of people. Tend to see more 3 door R's than GTI's when I was searching; I guess I just also like the practicality of...
Thanks... took a slight risk on whether they would come out well but chuffed with the result.
Yeah R's need Pretoria's and at this age they are few and fair between - trying to find an R with Pretoria's, Leather, Pro Nav in Lapiz Blue is hard!
Yeah it's Silver; though not what I'd call a normal silver compared to my neighbours silver Honda - this has a grey hue to it.
Thanks :) - the colour combo of everything just works to me, pin striping ties in well with all the other red GTI detailing - might get the centre caps with the red...
They’re normally diamond cut finish with gloss black inserts - a royal pain in the ass to keep clean and subject to white worm. 2 of these need refurbing so I changed the colour and finish 👍🏼
The springs are good; I ran a set on this for 40k miles without any issue and the ride quality was never noticeably different to me. A good balance of comfort and sportiness :
I’ve recently bought myself another Golf GTi; having owned a DSG previously I’ve gone for a good spec, low owner and good history manual this time. Full leather, Pro Nav, Dynaudio, Climate windscreen and a mere 28k miles.
I’ve then given it a few additions - Racingline springs, door graphics...
yeah gave up on the used sales - of the sets that came up only Matt Wills ones would have done me based on the colour and offset, but even then it's one thing to get the wheels but it's another to then get them with tyres that you personally would like or you have the hassle to swap them off for...
cheers :D it's pretty much perfect in my eyes now...
Chris205 - yes need to give under the bonnet a spruce up, engine cover needs to go back on as well. As for the H&R's... handle great IMO, i think i will raise the rear slightly, more because it's slightly too low i've caught the exhaust a...
So decided to make a few changes to the Liquid... have been hunting high and low for 2118's for months, rare as hen's teeth on the used market so used a contact of ours and got a good deal on them in the end :approve:
Also opted for a bit of strippage - Recaro's made the the rear seats...
we ditched ML in favour of Mimecast... Mimecast for us worked out providing better functionality, protection and most importantly a better price over ML.
you had some good lines from the little I saw... was a passenger in the white kit car in the 14:45 track session... the others watching were using you as the marker for how much progress we made and commented how quick you seemed to be out there
Thanks for the nice comments :D
Yes... there is a couple of people on v6clio that have done it too
Seats from Trophy number 68 (iirc), wheels from Trophy number 299 :)
Nope, not at all... have been keeping a wise eye on classifieds/ebay and buying things at reasonable prices - the wheels...
So I took the 182 off for a couple of additions yesterday to Fred@BTM... results speak for themselves but top work all round :)
Recaro Trendlines, Trophy Speedlines, Prospeed exhaust, Coilovers and a 197 Steering wheel... couple of final little touches needed to get it finished in our eyes...
So a little update with the addition of a set of Trophy Turini's and a few new pictures after snow foaming the car earlier... had forgotten just how hard LY was to capture!
Cheers :approve: Loving the car and the looks it gets
Also, seats wouldn't have been possible without a lot of help from kevinhall on here who joined me on the roadtrip to get them and also did the swap - thanks mate!!
