Cheers RyG ;)
An ideal weekend away for petrol heads, a free event. I'm not so sure it's stag weekend territory though. Spa town centre is a nice place but on the other end of the spectrum as in not a lads, drinking, bars, t1ts out etc kinda place. More like fine al fresco dining, cafes...
So nice to see something different, looks so clean and simple. Seems like you have a decent head on your shoulders with how you've done things, a pleasant read and an amazing looking Clio
+1 back in the day i took the time and effort to have a load of caliper extenders made and anodised for the R5GT Turbo boys.
It gave them the opportunity to go from the OE 238mm disc to the Renault 21TXi 285mm disc setup, at that time K Tec and GT Tuning were the only companies to make them but...
It worked for me, seemed like a good setup for road, back road blasts and the occasional trackday. The toe out was a nice little tweak and made a difference for me.
Maybe someone else has a 2nd opinion on the toe out :)
There's going to be a compromise in tyre wear but you have to sacrifice a little to gain in other areas if that makes sense. It really depends what you want being a road car, mileage, spirited driving. I personally found it a benefit with that setup on road, take into account driving style on...
Been a while since I've had any geo done to Clios, but on my last Clio I had 1.5 degrees negative camber and 3mm toe out. IIRC the toe out gives a nice little turn into corners
Dom, is this the K Tec supercharger set up?
A couple of questions if that's ok, are you using the black restrictor? With the supercharger in place do you lose the aircon?
Cheers Cub, look forward to seeing pics. I'm gonna have a go at painting most of the parts myself, I'm just wondering whether the inlets will be ok to paint with 'normal' spray paint or whether they really have to be done with VHT. I've already bought new black silicon boost hoses and just about...
I'm just in the process of making a list of parts on the engine that can be painted and/or powdercoated. Can anyone add to it? The engine will be taken out so i'll be painting the block, head and gearbox. Also what paint types have you used?
Top inlet
Lower inlet
Rocker cover
Cambelt cover
No worries chaps :) I should have all the parts ordered and delivered to finish the kit off by the end of next week. I'll be chompin at the bit by then to get on with it but need the Laguna first.
I'll measure the diameter of my restrictor tonight, then speak to my mate to have him machine me 2-3 billet ones with different diameters. Cheers Craig.
It certainly will be, that's the plan. Would like to get it out on Brands after it's finished for a shakedown to see how it goes. Also toying with fitting a pair of bucket seats as it should end up being a 2nd car.
I know there are different factors that can equate to a final figure but 1 that springs to mind is restrictor diameter size IIRC? I do have 1 but was thinking of having a couple more made up so they can be easily swapped over when it's being mapped.
RyG i'll pop round when it's finished
Cheers, the parts are building up ready and waiting for when the Clio comes off the road. I'm doing really well holding in the excitement, i'm really not sure what the hell it's going to be like when it's back on the road with 250bhp!
Is there a comprehensive guide for this conversion that can be made as a sticky? I'm also thinking of doing this once the supercharger conversion is done on mine
