I suppose it all depends on your budget. The 600D mentioned above would be an idea first camera. Start with a kit lens (18-55) and then if you get in to it, buy some more suited lenses to your preferred photography.

Is the Nikon a 1.6 crop? If so, then just multiply the focal length by that to see what you will get. Eg, a 100mm lens when put on to a crop body will be the equivalent of a 160mm lens. 50mm will be 80mm I think. Quite a difference IMO.

They will be fine. The Haida is the same model I have and is great value for money. Not sure on the quality of the Polaroid one but shouldn't be too bad. You'll also need a tripod and remote shutter cable too.

Canon 55-250 ISII brand new from play.com for £149 I think. For the money, I'd say it is unbeatable! ​All of my Oulton park BSB were shot with it on a 550d.

I didn't touch the iso at all for mine. Left it in auto. For panning I use shutter priority, take it down to whatever you want to use. Some of the shots I got I used Apature priority when playing around. Never went full manual though.

Some nice shots. I stayed on the other side of the track, didn't know until later that you could get opposite side of the pits. I know for next time though. I like the second shot, I wanted to try to get that type of angle but found it hard. It was so busy!

Went over yesterday to catch the final day of the Super bikes. First time I've ever shot bikes and I really did underestimate how bloody fast they were! Also, as it was so busy, it was pretty hard getting to any half decent spots. All taken with a Canon 550d & the 55-250 ISII. I put this one...

You'll see them most of the month. The high point is over a couple of days from Sunday -Tuesday. More likely to be 30-45 per hour though. I haven't had the chance to shoot them, or when I have had time, the skies have been cloudy.

Yeah, up from happy valley (turn left when on the orme) looking down on the pier or just off the road would get a nice shot at sunrise. Bit too early at this time of year for me though.

Should have drove around the orme for the sunset. Lovely from there, especially if you go to the summit car park. Really nice shots though. The pier one is probably my favourite.
