    The New Phone Thread

Having it on the back, in an obvious convenient spot works really well. You can grab the phone from a pocket, and it's unlocked by the time it's out. But where they've put it seems bizarre.

And then there's the utterly retarded placement of the fingerprint reader. Long, tall phone. Let's not put it in a position usable for humans. Let's put it high up. Next to the camera. Awesome. Looks awkward to use, and you'll end up with fingerprints all over the camera lens.

I can't figure out the point of the curved edges, or the new screen format. Bit strange having an aspect ratio that most videos etc don't support

Fair enough. But i updated a z5 compact I've kept as a backup phone to android 7. And it was running quicker than my S7 running the older version. All the fancy hardware in the world seems of little use to me if a technicaly inferior phone performs better.

    My friend's modified ED30 (Love/Hate)

Golf shape doesn't suit what he's done to it. At all. Reminds me of this.

Making it look like the latest version isn't the same as it being the latest version of software. However you try and phrase it. They spend several months of the year running out of date android. Whichever way you cut it, that's a negative.

So you can turn your phone, into something running the latest Google software (months before it's released) in 3 minutes? Or are you talking about using a different launcher?

Yeah, i was being sarcastic ;). They've pretty much reached a point where they add tinsels and sparkle every year, but very little that becomes essential. Notification handling is better than it was a few years ago, but essentially I'm using my phone in exactly the same way as 4 years ago.

Have you not seen the curved edges man? It's revolutionary. Not sure how mind.

Ordered one, will probably sell it on to some mug via eBay who decides they want one ASAP after they've sold out. The tech maybe impressive, but when the software updates are months behind Google, it's all a bit redundant.

There's some software for the e46 that lets you map the throttle response using a laptop. I made it completely linear, gave it a lovely long throttle. Much nicer.

    Cookie's Golf R32

It's quite impressive actually. It takes all the power and torque, and turns it into noise. Rather than wasting it on the tyres and going quickly. ☺

I've broken the octavia. Seem to have eaten through tyres, all suspension bushes and drop links. It's almost as if they didn't intend them to go on track.

    Audi RS3

Are you going to be a standard audi driver, and insist on using launch control between traffic lights in city centres? They are nice dailies, I've got the pheads review on the saloon up at the moment. Viper Green looks great.

You'll die in an understeer induced fire. Don't like it. Not jealous of the collection. At all.

    Waze - Traffic App

I'd go for waze then. Traffic stuff and rerouting is OK, doesn't take loads of memory.

    Waze - Traffic App

That's the free version, obviously the subscription paid version has unlimited miles. The memory will be an issue with 16gb though, don't you have an sd card?

    Waze - Traffic App

It's good, but the traffic isn't as good as Tom Tom go (which you can try for free.). Ditto route planning, decent enough, but not the best.

    Corbeau Clubsport?

Clubsport are under £400 for a pair. I doubt there will be much difference in how much you'd lose on them over 2years.

    Corbeau Clubsport?

Aren't they cheaper via ebay and GSM? There's sets available straight away on ebay.

    Corbeau Clubsport?

I had them in the mini. They're decent enough, but there is a bit of flex in the seat. They don't feel anywhere as premium as pp (obviously).

    Dashcams good/ bad

I reckon you give them too much credit. I doubt the average road user gives it that much thought.

    Dashcams good/ bad

Cctv and plate recognition everywhere. Cia watching you w**k using your phone/webcam. Mobile logging your movements pretty much 24-7. And dashcams are your issue? Meh. Don't drive like a silly c**t and you'll be fine. In order to genuinely get the police interested, you'd have to be doing...
