I’m not sure, google maps should give you a good indicator, or failing that it’s signposted heavily being a hospital car park :) Also, the multi-story car park in St Helens Town centre is another good option, you can get onto the top level too but the lighting is quite nice in the lower levels...

I don’t know of abandoned places in St Helens/Warrington that you would be able to access, although there will probably be somewhere. For that sort of thing the Trafford Park area is your best bet if you can travel a bit further. You could try Warrington Hospital car park for just a good...

Find an object in your house and put it in front of the camera (not directly) then focus on something behind it and you’ll get that effect.

Yeah that’s a good choice, the only reason that I didn’t go for the 6D is that the plastic body put me off (as stupid as that sounds), I wanted the Magnesium alloy body, after the D7000 being Mag-Alloy I didn’t want it to feel any less solid, it sounds stupid but things like that really grate on...

Ah I see. You’ll love the jump coming from a 600D, is it a 6D that you’re going for? Any lenses in mind?

Nice photo,Tom. A CPL could have been handy for that shot by the looks of things. That Evo is gorgeous though, properly done that.

You'll be getting the black screen because the camera is exposed for something extremely bright, so try bringing the shutter speed down, aperture larger (smaller number) and the ISO higher.

If it was the second to last it is Druids, it’s the one where you get to it by the woodland path.

I like No.7, lovely contrast and good panning. That looks like druids to me? If so it’s great for panning there for some reason, I think because it’s a long(ish) corner it’s relatively easy to get some good pans through there.

I’d probably say to practise panning; lower the shutter speed and pan or track the bike to get some nice background blur to show the motion of the bike :)

I know, I didn't realise that the sun set would be behind the Orme, for shots of the pier a sunrise would be better with the sun rising in the east.

I only went up briefly, I should have spent a full day in Llandudno really, I only went for the sunset.

The X100s is said to be a great improvement in AF performance, not that the X100's are action orientated anyway given the focal length of the lens etc

I'm tempted to have a go at that, I'd have to find it in the sky though :p

Yeah L lenses are what'll be in front of my camera now after using a few of them, they never let you down.

The 17-40L is nearly as wide (only 2mm off the 10-20 on Nikon crop) and sharp. They go for pretty reasonable prices too.

Ah right, bear in mind the 10-20 is for crop sensors too.

What lens(es) are you looking at?

That's two of us that have been converted by your Camera haha, my D7000 never felt the same again after using the 5D :p

You're better going for an xxD or xD as an upgrade, they're a lot nicer to shoot with than the smaller bodies for the better ergonomics and larger viewfinders :)

The 60D doesn't even have a magnesium alloy body, it's polycarbonate like the 650D. The main advantage is the better ergonomics of the body, it's much bigger and nicer to handle. I'd go for the 70D as a next step though, or a 7D, they're getting cheap (relatively) since the replacement is coming...

There are quite a few that he's taken on his phone that look like they've been taken with his DSLR :p I'm sure he put a thread up with some of his pics taken on his phone.
