Food for thought then but what are the common problems that come up .
I was thinking about getting rouge motorsport to do the full conversion with the gearbox upgrade and manifold as well .
Not cheep but then fewer problems you would think ???
So after the first track day the car is back in the garage up in the air and looks to have taken Brands Hatch well if melting the stock tyres .
Im planning on doing Castle combe on the 16/07/18 then Brands Hatch on the 31/07/18 then off to Germany to the Ring for 5 days 06/08/18 –...
Yeah a few bits have already been done but the main bits are still to be done .
The body work is relay nice and dare I say too good for a track car as it has been loved its whole life with so much service history but its new life will be on track and may pick up the odd battle scar I have no...
I did say every one has a moment or two and I have a few moments yesterday that were getting close .
I will run the 1ZZ this year and then look to swap out the engine for the 2ZZ 190 BHP unit and with the suspension and tyres all done this should be a fun quick little thing .
So did the first track day of the year at Brands Hatch for an evening session in the MR2 and below is the report of how the session went with some good and bad points .
It is about an hour from work and the Mrs met me at work and we had a quick stop to get some food and a coffee .
We...
My Goodridge braded brake lines arrived and I was going to fit them last night and do a brake fluid change and flush for the Motul RBF 660 .
Three bleed nipples came off / open fine but the last one was rounded off and the first line I tried to remove for the brake pipes was not going...
So with only three dyas until Brands Hatch track day the new rear control arms arrived just in time .
New Hardrace adjustable rear control arms
Old and new
And installed
Car now drives spot on again but could do with a tracking set up .
I fixed the Idle air control valve...
I have done a few things from the last update to the car and it is now getting there .
The new clutch and lightweight flywheel and gearbox oil have now been installed so the car is driving again after a new MOT , insurance and tax .
First up was to install a 100 cell sports cat
Old cat...
I will be looking to change the wheels and tyres next month but I’m just thinking what will be best .
The car is for track use only so looks do not matter but I’m after some lightweight wheels that will go with some track day tyres .
The car as it is has the below set up from the factory...
I got a few more bits done at the week end .
I fitted a towing strap to the front of the car .
Then I checked the noise level and it is at 79 dB
Then as I had some gold heat reflective tape left I used this on the induction pipe .
And to finish off as the car is a soft...
I will be doing a track day at Brands Hatch in May but im unsure on the Noise the car is making .
The car has a Cobra quad exhaust system , 100 cell sports cat , toyo sports de cat manifold so does anyone know what noise level I will be at as the car does not sound that loud .
Brands hatch...
I do read this a lot and with sticking with the 1ZZ engine this year it will help make the best of what its got .
I have never had a light weight flywheel so im I correct in saying that it will make the revs go up and down quicker ( like 3 gear feeling like second with regards to how quick it...
Got a few more bits done over the weekend .
First was to change out the old power electric steering fluid that was looking a bit old and dirty .
Old fluid .
New Ravenol fluid .
Then on to some more weight saving so out came the alarm siren .
Then the charcoal filter came out...
So after 5 months of the car sitting in the garage under a cover I at the weekend started to crack on again and fit a few bits .
First up was a Mishimoto aluminium radiator that I have had sitting in the shed for months ready to fit .
Old stock rad vs the new Mishimoto unit that is 3...
This is what im thinking .
Will be on the list but not yet
They do feel very light and pointy so im excited to see how it gets on .
Ok I have read that the engine swap is not to hard but then problem come after that .
I have already removed the below weight so the car should be around the...
So after the winter I’m now looking to get the car up and running and on the road and ready for its first track day that I have booked for Brands Hatch on the 16/05/18 .
With this in mind and wanting to do 3 / 4 other UK track days like Thruxton before my annual trip to the Nurburgring in...
After all of the other upgrades one thing I did notice was that the stock brake pads can fade under use sometimes so to go with the Mountune braded brake lines and Motul RBF 600 fluid I have installed some ECB Yellow stuff pads front and rear .
Removed the front calipers .
I re...
It will be good to see what you think as you are a past fiesta st owner and by luck or good judgement I think it is a dam good drive now it is finished .
I have just had a good afternoon with a friend in his fk2 civic type r And down the B2166 runcton to Chichester and he thinks it's a bit of a...
Your still welcome to drive my fiesta st now I have it finished .
I would love to see what you think and to see if I can convince you that more power is always better :)
It looks and sounds just like OEM so wings or loud exhaust so a bit of a mild sleeper as I have still got the Mountune MP-215 badge on the back :)
For the performance it has now its not that expensive I think using top brand parts only .
£ 16,100 for the car Fiesta ST 3 top spec with nav C/C and all that jazz with rear parking sensors and style pack .
£ 7,100 in parts and labour
- £ 685 un old parts sold
Total £ 22,515 so not that expensive in my eyes with how it is now .
I have just looked in to all the parts installed on the car in the below up to this point for reference .
Engine
Airtec stage 3 intercooler
Mishimoto big bore hot side pipe
Mishimoto big bore cold side pipe
ITG Maxogen induction kit
Ram Air large bore cross over pipe
Mountune...
Ok I will look you up next time im there .
You can get even more as my car has the X47 hybrid turbo and all safety systems still on and the car is running a sports cat and two exhaust silencers .
With the AET/VT330R or the X47R hybrid turbo and full exhaust and de cat around 340 BHP possible...
The stock car is very very good a stage 2 car ( map induction and intercooler ) is proper quick and a stage 3 car like this one is just so much fun .
I would not talk anyone out of one and will be good to see what the MK8 is like .
