Powder coat would be better than a rattle can job, but so would a pro painted finish. I think factory finish is paint so it must be good wearing. Paint works on centre caps too, and f. me the powder on my wheels is so thick I can't read any of the cast writing!
It'll need bending a bit to stop you from punching the radio and you'll want a short shift to reduce the throw so it's the same as it was with the standard stick.

You can fit xenons from a 1*2. They are a direct swap. Don't go fitting a hid kit to your halogen headlamps because you'll fail mot and look like a tw@.as for the rear you can fit phase 1lights which don't have the clear bit in the middle and are all red and I'm sure there will be some s**t...
