How strange that this would pop up, im considering getting one for the BM, but i keep seeing reports of poor sound quality on music playback.
Any thoughts?
Most definately, i prefer the delicate touch & deft responses of a small french chariot to pretty much anything else tbh.
106 Gti + Bilstein Grp N front's, B8 Rears, & your Faulkner 155lb -35mm springs please ;)
Re: Project 172k Trophy, & its endless track abuse
Not really sure, probably about 2 to 2.5 hours i guess? Depends on the track/weather/how long you leave between sessions, etc. For me, its definately worth the cost, you cant get anywhere those sorts of speeds/handling situations on the...
Again, id disagree, the TT doesnt offer much in the way of feedback, but purely from a grip perspective it would rip a Clio a new one in 'the twisties', not much fun doing it, but considerably faster point to point!! It was running Michelin Pilot Sport 2's at £150 a corner though ...
Imho of...
Re: Project 172k Trophy, & its endless track abuse
Yeah, i've done a couple this year, not as many as Foxy/Whitely/Nick172Cup, etc though. I tend to do what are called open pitlane, which basically gives you from say 9.30-12, then 1-4.30 on track. Generally tend to do 20 min sessions...
Re: Project 172k Trophy, & its endless track abuse
Pretty much lol.
At this rate his prayer mat will be resting on half a clio interior & 2 Oz F1's ...
Re: Project 172k Trophy, & its endless track abuse
Well after some late night eBay action over the past week, i now have the following sat in the server room at work :D Hopefully it'll get warmer at some point so i can fit some of it:
2 x Cobra Imola's in black/dirt
1 x rather used OMP side...
Pah, not bothered about that tbh, my suspension setups have always put handling before looks. If i wanted looks id drive a TT still, not a french sh1tbox.
Quite possibly, at least it stays on all 4 wheels now though :o
For road use, the Sachs is a very good compromise that offers the best of all worlds. For track use, you simply change the front damping/fit higher poundage springs & adjustable rear dampers - they you can make it as hard/soft as you like.
Its good anyway though, so by fitting better...
What's actually wrong with the standard car?
Might i suggest removing the side skirts, roof wrap & fitting the black Speedlines.
Then spend less money trying to impress the kids at Halfords, & more on enjoying the car :D
How strange, i find the TT infinitly better than the MK5 Golf, which i have to say is probably the lamest car i've ever driven. Like a small chested girl in a wonderbra, there's much promise from afar, but so much disappointment when you get to rag it.
Yup, Curtis worked out Powerstation for years, Lichfield was in the same building, Curtis then started doing AST ...
Going back to the Trophy. Your comment about Ktec coilies & lows says it all Steve, you wont ever get the pink go-kart if you're only interested in looks ;)
Yeah, was a company car. The chap lived in Solihull, but worked in Andover - nice 220 mile daily commute! Then did business mileage on top as a consultant for a furniture company, so huuuuge mileages ... but yes, sod doing it in a clio.
James - it feels exactly the same as the mint one i had before, that was on 52k when i bought it!! Luke_89 on here owns that one now :)
Fletcher - fingers crossed it lasts, super skint now 330 has bought shares in Shell :o
DrRollo - yeah, crazy isnt it, had its 12k service after 3 weeks...
Yup :approve:
On track, less grip = more fun :star:
I dont find them too bad tbh, but i'm quite a smooth driver i think, found the PE2's worse, & considerably more expensive!! Will try the Hancock things when this set dies though ...
Done the Haynes & Brands trackdays since then, so another 200 road miles & 250 hard track miles :race:
Currently on the original clutch, engine & box lol. How long that will last now its solely used for track days i have no idea!! Full service history every 12k, 1st cambelt done after 11...
ROFL.
Proof, if ever it were needed that sticky tyres:
1. Make any car quick around a track
2. Make any driver quick around a track
Hero's use T1R's. Grip is for gays.
Steve- u are entirely correct, a trophy is a clio with funky suspension, thats it. Its also the most expensive as its the newest, dont forget that!
Ive driven and/or owned most of the great hot hatches of our time, & im improving many things on the car, but the sachs are staying, its a very...
Pah, in the grand scheme of things AST's arent even a particularly expensive brand of kit when compared to Ohlins/Nitron/Moton, etc, just in the clio world ;) love the way everyone bums them ...
Phone up Sachs & ask them to price up two front Trophy dampers, its a great setup, & one that...
Looks lovely, id get the oil sensor done though, its easy enough & will put people off buying it ...
Or just take it off the ad & let the purchaser work it out themselves!!
