Just been reminded of this video.
Thought id post it to add some more fuel to the testosterone fuelled 'im faster than you' fire ...
'Talented' driver + clio 1.2 vs 'normal' driver in 172.
T_M9dC3cwBQ
;)
As Fred's video proves, id place money on a well driven 1.2 beating most of the 'track-prepped' 172s on here around a twisty track lol ...
Think about this way as well:
Less power + lower handling limits = maximum attack everywhere, learning how to drive on or over the limits of adhesion...
Now booked for Tuesday 19th at 9pm - Staines Leisure Centre
Under the name of James Stone so we could get student discount ;) so umm, you had better turn up as they want to see your card ...

Exactly!! I can see it now, 'my clio's caught fire, my body is burnt, but my face is still pretty' ...
Personally, im thinking that the blue label will suffice, unless they start expecting you to wear a full nomex body suit for trackdays :S
Where does it say exhaust? Its the manifold, which is an utter c*nt on the J4 engine lol.
Needs an MOT 1st, so yeah, build it on Wednesday night, then MOT it on the way there :D
Link me up baby ...
And finally, from the RenaultSport trackday regs:
'All participants must wear crash helmets of a recognised manufacture and complying with the current Safety Requirements of the BSI 6658-85A (blue label) or BSI 6658–85A/FR (red label), or MSA/ACU/FIM/FIA standards. All...
Apparently so, but there is currently speculation that red label, ie fire retardant may be introduced soon. Essentially im going to work my head around it all, then phone MSV and see what they have to say about it .... dont want to spend out £150 on a helmet, then not be able to use it...
Its not to any MSA regs though, so from Jan 1st 2010 you apparently cant use it at any MSV owned tracks, ie Brands, Oulton, Snetterton, Cadwell & Bedford ....
Nope, have a read here...
Well, its not an MSV owned track & they're the ones getting all shirty about regs ... so anything should be fine. They're welsh, just wear a BMW helmet & they wont notice ;)
I'm buying something like this soon though, Snell 2005 approved, so compatible with blue/red label regs required by MSV...
Not really, went home to Cornwall for xmas, then the snow got in the way :dapprove:
Last night i realised that theres not actually that long until Llandow though (Thursday 25th March) & i don't currently have a car to do it in!! As such i thought i better make a list of what still needs doing...
I wouldnt worry about cc to be honest, its all about fun at the end of the day. In all seriousness, you'll be able to thrash the absolute tits off your 1.2, non-stop, flat everywhere, whereas all the 2.0s will be backing off quite a bit in places.
Mines only a 1.6 anyway ;)
