Has anyone been to watchdog yet, as per the bonnet catch on mk2 clios?
It's clearly a massive design/build quality issue. It seems like every day I log on to this place, someone else has had a 197/200 gearbox s**t itself.
You'll get £500 easy. Tbh I'd be wanting £650/£700.
You will get double that if you break it but that all depends on how you value your time and if you have the space/patience to do it.

Best bet is to buy a secondhand engine, whack it in and carry on. If you love the car lots, replace the belts/dephaser on the replacement engine. If not, £250 for a new...
a failed gasket on the inlet manifold i'd suggest. Or the rubber o ring at the back under the it has gone crusty and fallen out.

Turn the ignition to position two, look at the lights on the dash and wiggle the wires and connections (with force) and if the airbag light goes out, you've found your offending wire/connections.
