I made a tool , flat bar, couple of bolts and a welded on socket that fitted in the holes in the cam pulley, then used a ratchet, found that the crank pulley bolt kept tightening itself and had to keep loosening it.
Crankshaft pulley shouldn't be on a keyway, so it can rotate, although I think I have seen on here some fit keyways from another Renault, but yeah don't see how you could do it then.
Look like the black series, now ive fitted a set of those (to wishbones) after accidentally buying them. Were very stiff and I wouldn't fancy running them in a road going clio.
Yeah, once its all tightened up and you are checking the camshaft locking tool will slide back in you can use it, but initially its all rotated with bolts loosened.
If I remember correctly, I had to loosen the main pulley bolt more than I thought necessary as it seemed to tighten itself while rotating, and making it go tight.
Did mine a couple of years ago, must admit ive forgotten the full procedure but I know (cause I still have it) I made a tool up to fit in those 2 holes in the big camwheel to turn things over.
So what do I need to change, phase 2 subframe I believe, phase 2 wishbones ? and what about steering arms. I believe I have been given some duff info on this in the past so accurate info if you have it please.
Right, having done cambelt, pulleys and dephaser on my 172, same as 182 I'm sure, I can confirm you need cam locking tools on gearbox end and pulley locking tools on cam belt end. No idea what the vw c spanner is for, used conventional spanners/sockets as far as I remember.
So to update this, same issue continued, it would be fine for a mile or 2 then no speedo/ lack of revs, then fine again, so i bought a new bosch crank sensor and while I was fitting it also fitted a spare used speedo sensor I happened to have. So far so good.
Sell it, you don't seem too bothered about it, it will deteriate ?? if stored, every penny counts when buying a house and the other half will be impressed.
I found an old socket the appropriate size, then with a small angle grinder I ground some away leaving some that lined up with the slots, worked well enough to remove them all.
OK, so to help me out, can I buy a fault code reader/ code reader fault???? . I have an early ( single lambda ) phase 1. Looking at some on ebay but they say 2001 onwards. thanks
Driving along at 70 mph, suddenly speedo stops working, few minutes later it starts working, does this more than once. Then at a junction while accelerating a big misfire at 4000 revs, tried a few times before journeys end and everytime a misfire at 4000. Less than that runs sweet. Any ideas...
I believe early phase 1 have a different adjustment arrangement to later phase 1 and phase 2 so possibly different cables, you may know this already, so yeah I would guess you have the wrong cables although I cannot help with part no,s.
