Chip on shoulder: Recommend doing your own research tbh. You've had a look at all the cars here and decided none suit your criteria and then had a dig as if everyone else should search other sources on your behalf, for free. Bit weak. I've been around forums longer than I can remember (not this...
I've got a 2003 172 I have been building into a track car, resprayed in pearl white (clio 200 colour). It's not a perfect paint job but it's pretty good.
It has:
Silicone hoses
Sabelt wheel
Lifeline quick release
Momoboss
Rebuilt 225 brembos
Scenic discs
Goodridge hoses
Stainless pad pin...
Sorry to necro an old thread yet again, but this really has been the best source of Clio specific info when fitting Spa gauges, and in the interest of keeping it all together it seems best to add to this one!
My 2p:
You DO need a 3/8 BSPP to 1/8 BSPP adaptor. That's parallel threads on both...
Car looks great mate.
Wouldn't be worried about things like the bumper/bonnet for aero catches. They're only standard mk2 items in a different colour after all. If you wanted to revert back to road spec it wouldn't be so hard, just cost a few bob.
Didn't realise you're on Ireland, sorry.
I'd still suggest joking at mainland UK eBay. Postage to Ireland won't cost a prohibitive amount. I sent some Camshafts to NI a couple of months ago for £20 so I can't see it costing more than £30-40 for a single alloy. That would out the cost at circa...
This is the completely wrong place to post indeed.
However.. The 197 is indeed 5x108, CB60.1 (same as mk2) and et63. Doubt the et38 wheel will fit nicely without scrubbing horrendously.
Why not just pick up a spare 197 wheel? They can be had off eBay for £80 delivered. You can probably get...
This is a crop of my own picture of a caliper taken from a Megane 225 which is the same caliper as the 197's etc. The code is found on the leading edge that goes toward the front of the car when fitted.
Afaik, 130mm is the same bolt spacing and if I recall correctly, the piston diameter is...
Just adding information here.
I bled my brakes twice and still had a soft pedal. I then bled them in this order after suggestions from a mate:
Rear N/S
Front O/S inner then outer
Rear O/S
Front N/S inner then outer
I'm not sure if the order had anything particularly to do with it, but I do...
It's won't be the map. Hundreds and hundreds have flashed 98Ron maps onto there cars and this would be the first issue I've read about in the 3+ years since owning my car.
Engine Dynamics conversions seem to be the most reliable from the feedback on them I've seen. I'm probably going ITBs (just for the noise) but would go to ED if I want to go turbo in future.
All I can say from personal experience and spending money with Henk, is don't bother.
The guy is great at replying to your email(s) before you've paid and f**king terrible at it afterwards. If you want to get a remap, spend a little extra and get a decat/matched inlets or something to make it...
I just found this thread via google, I'm having the exact same issue but it seems to only be one unit making the noise. No noise from the front at all. So far, all I can deduce is that it's my rear n/s coilover making the noise and that the spring/helper etc doesn't look right, event though I...
Driven hard and put away wet!
Progress has been painfully slow. I've still not even fitted my Gaz coilovers that have been sat in the house for at least five months now. I'm adamant they won't see the car until I've finished making up some covers for them though.
Work/personal life...
Colour alone I'd keep the technical grey. You're so lucky to have two! I'm sure you've earned them both the hard way, but you're still a lucky bugger! Haha.
Does the technical grey really change as much with the light as some of the previous photos posted to the forum suggest?
The point of the thread is it's a place where people can vent about what they consider to be bad (for whatever their reason) modifications I thought? I'll try and explain again, maybe it doesn't make sense to others, but it does to me! Haha.
For me, they're bad because they're boring. Like Ikea...
Turinis are bad because they're not even a modification really. They look good, I agree. But people worshipping them (especially here) basically equates to anything else being bad. That's boring IMO. I'm not saying horrible wheels are great because they're not Turinis. Just that Turinis are like...
Makes much more sense if the clio is just the work/tip runner. The idea f such a beautiful car like the 275 trophy being a garage queen made me sad inside that's all! Haha.
If you're really looking for economy have you considered getting an old mk2 dci? With a small amount of money they can be...
Had*
I'm sure many people would hate plenty of my modifications. My list was just the stuff that bores me, it's totally fine (obviously) for someone else to like and enjoy everything I hate.
Another one I'm not a fan of is rear show cages. Just seems a bit silly to carry a large amount of...
If you mean smashing 8 pints of Carling at Whether spoons with 'the lads' then yeah I probably am not the guy to invite.
Yeah I don't like any mods. I haven't done any to my car
Sticking anthracite turinis on any and all Clios, followed by saying "Ah looks so clean". - It's just boring and exemplifies the attitude of conformity or GTFO.
Dewipering rear window - don't really see the point? Rear wiper is pretty useful if you actually use the car and don't just clean it...
Are yours technical grey? [emoji23]
Honestly I find it really strange how many similar mods I've made to both yourself and Gus yet there's been no chat about any of it before buying!
Some Deox-c is already on the list! For now, I have enough to be getting on with and need to refill the coffers a little bit as it's been an expensive month!
Brembo 4 Pots - Fitted!
Finally, they're on the car and it's back on the floor after a week on axle stands and spending my break between...
That's the one! Definitely on my list of to dos. Perhaps when I take the engine out for a freshen up eventually, I'll remove the entire subframe etc and set about getting it all cleaned up and coated.
Hubs being so rusted really ruins everything else being new and feels like a half finished...
Definitely something I want to do! Though probably that chemical treatment I think either yours or tomotek had rather than powder coating. Can't get the washer off those Meg bolts, the threads keep them on [emoji23] the difference in thickness is very small though so not really worth the hassle...
