Went from 172 Cup to a 200 Cup.
Both fantastic but 200 Cup in a different league in capability and build quality.
The prices are now overlapping and decent mk2 are getting expensive, making a similar or even better condition 197/200 look like a comparative bargain imho.
Common problem. I fixed mine by buying one of these and following a YouTube tutorial. 15 min job.

Hi folks,
I considering moving ‘up’ to a Clio 200. I’ve a fair idea what to look out for in terms of mechanicals but can’t find much about rust.
Hopefully that’s a good thing but is there any problem areas I should be aware of when looking? (I’ve seen the radiator support).
Thanks
Great thread.
Paid £1000 for my Cup with 112k in 2015. Many cars have come and gone but the Clio’s still here, now on 186k. Kids love it and can’t bear the thought of parting. So much fun and good memories had.
Strange. I’ve not really been keeping a close eye. I roughly know where the market is at but not the specific cars.
They are definitely something I would consider long term. Still presenting a lot of fun per £ even for something around £5-6k.
Thanks mate. It’s been an amazing car, so much fun has been had in it.
It’s starting to need a little love again, the rust has been slowed down but will need a proper repair at some point should i decide to do it. All year round use has its drawbacks but gives me more time, miles and...
Been too long but fear not, the £1k Cup lives on. Which is more than I can say about the **** rabbit that popped out in front of it.
185’500 on the clocks now and still running sweet. Wonder if there is a higher miler out there?
Hi guys,
Clio is dropping coolant. Had a look underneath and this appears to be the source. Whatever it is, it seems to be disintegrating!
For the non mechanically minded, what is it?!
Hi mate, hope all is well and your Cup is going grand!
Yes I’m loving having another Impreza. So much character, fast and fun to drive. I was very fortunate in the circumstances to find this one. Been looked after and had a lot spent. Just needs gold wheels :-)
Been a while! Car still going great and will hit 172k in the next few weeks.
Will need to give this thread a proper update but needless to say, I finished off the rear quarter and after a couple of attempts got it looking half decent. I’ll get a pro job done on it at some point but not...
I love the idea of it but I can’t help but feeling that if you will worry about reliability and big bills then it’s better to stay N/A or move to a Megane R26 which gives you the turbo, 6 speed and LSD for probably the cost to change that the conversion would cost.
I had a Subaru P1 for a few...
Thanks Colin. Strips were very easy.
To remove them, open the door and push them back towards the door edge. If that doesn’t work there is a small grommet just inside the door that sits behind the strip and can be used to access and push it out.
Sanded and then primed.
My bullets weren’t keen...
New back box on. Sounds great and is tucked up nicely behind the bumper.
Couple more coats of base on the door and clear coated. Will leave it for a couple of days before sanding and polishing. Fingers crossed for some shine!
Door strips and bullets done.
Bit more work on the filler on...
Time for a wee update. Car is still going strong and has now ticked over 165k. Still makes me turn round to look at it after parking up.
I’ve decided to grab a few bits and pieces and try and improve it a bit in the last few weeks:
- alloy foot rest
- new rear licence plate lamp
- ‘Clio’ mats...
