Cheers for that. You’ve done well then! Mine came with a KTEC stealth which disintegrated and I think I’m on my second going on third mild steel one since....
Car is looking so good! You’ve taken it some way over the last few years. Belts due on mine so I’ll be heading over to see Barrie and the team shortly too.
PS what exhaust have you got? It’s nice and tucked away. Mine is a horrible Karina pattern one which sits low and is now blowing 🤦🏻♂️
Cracking car and right decision to purchase. Lucky we are up north and too far for some to travel!
Lots of happy times ahead with two clios in the family!
In true me fashion, not a massive update! Car going well and enjoying its very quiet life these days. Just ticked over 160k in it.
Wind caught the door and slammed into my house, causing a fairly nasty dink and paint damage. Decided to give it a crack this week. Very pleased with the results...
Agreed!! Can’t believe I ran it so long before getting them done. Unfortunately the misses managed to scrape one within a fortnight so will need to take it back to be redone.... such is life!
Wow impressive!! Yep mine has been motorway miles, cruising at 60 to limit it to two tanks of fuel a week!
Yes, mechanically it’s had no expense spared. Regularly serviced at Rentec in Edinburgh and with a stack of receipts from there. Only run it on super unleaded too.
Decision made. Keeping...
This has sat for a while....
Car hasn’t skipped a beat in the last 22 months despite having to put up with a major commute for a long period of that. Mileage has jumped up to 159k now but it is now back to local duty only and as such won’t go up much at all for the foreseeable.
Only changes...
Cheers folks. Appreciate your thoughts. I knew a few of you would have had similar predicaments at various points. Gut is saying stick with it and spend the money required to enjoy to the full.
4/5 small bubbles at the back corner of each arch. One of the arches would need fixing regardless if I was to fix the scrape.
Some surface rust in the boot well due to water ingress at a point too.
Yes, I’m not thinking investment. Mine won’t ever be worth a lot because of the miles that is for sure. If anything, the mileage has allowed me to use it constantly without guilt or concern that it’s costing me money. I think I recognise your username from the old Scoobynet days? I had a P1 for...
Ok, so this is something that’s know I will have to decide myself and that everyone will have a varying opinion. I would however be interested to hear some thoughts on this.
I’ve had my 172 Cup for almost 5 years now and I love it. Bought off a member on here who had owned it for about 7 years...
That looks lovely, enjoy!
I was very similar with my Impreza. Joined Scoobynet in 2001 and took until 2009 before I got one! Oh the flip side, I had a Clio within a handful of months of joining here I think.
Great effort. Looks stunning.
My 172 Cup has been my daily source of fun for 4 years and will tick over 150k in the next couple of weeks. With fresh suspension and a retrimmed steering wheel it still feels fantastic and goes like stink.
Thought it might have been you. Loved that Bug, probably my favourite car on SNet. Hope you still have it.
Joined there in 2001, had a P1 which was my pride and joy till mortgages, kids and life reduced my car budget. My 172 Cup is a constant source of joy though and to be fair, bang for buck...
Wow, I like your taste and you basically have outlined my 172 Cup.
Only extras I have are:
R3 airbox
Magnecor leads
Braided brake lines
Engine and dog bone mounts
Makes for a fantastic road car.
