I've got a 172 Cup, tax is about £265 a year. Considerably more than my insurance!
Better on fuel than the Megane. I average about 34 mpg but can get over 40 mpg on the motorway.
A lot of the cheap ones need belts / dephaser / water pump. I personally prefer to buy one needing it done (price...
Yeah that was interesting. If you look at some of the Clio related threads on pistonheads is amazing how many owners of 911s etc say that they either have or had a Renaultsport Clio. Speaks volumes about the cars.
I would struggle to turn down an offer of a Cayman GT4 though purely because of...
Noticed the article when it went up and suspected it was someone from here. Recognised a few names posting too.
Great article and comments after - well done!
Don't underestimate the power of pistonheads / evo mag etc. Articles like that can influence values and desirability. Somebody write one...
This is fast becoming one of my favourite cars on the forum.
Love the wheel. Exactly what I'm after too. I far prefer it without the line on the top. Is it any thicker?
Hi Rob, thanks for clearing that up.
Car is a real credit to you. My old Subaru mechanic has taken a real shine to it. Big grin on his face after working a little / driving it. Confirmed what I knew about it going and stopping rather well! His opinion is that it will keep a lot of things...
Lovely hatch and very nice price too. I'm looking to get my second Impreza next year and I'm drawn between a hatch sti or a spec c hawk eye.
How does the hatch handle compared to your old blob?
Love red R27s and the Trophy of course!
If pushed I think I would probably prefer the R27 for the more modern look, interior and Recaros.
Interesting about the low down pull. The rstuner map certainly does help. Are you going to put it on the R27?
Ideal. That's the most important and relevant dyno in my book! Mine not yours that is!
Those tyres will be great esp for track work. I was a bit concerned about going that focused though as my other half sometimes drives it.
Yeah that's my thoughts too.
Thanks for that I will have a look for one.
In 2006 I had a look in a Renault garage in Edinburgh initially at a 172 Cup. The salesman took me out in what I think was an identical 182 to yours with the Recaros. I didn't pull the trigger but he pestered me for ages...
Thanks for the IK links. I've stuck my V6 box back on and it's noticeably better than stock so going to stick with that.
Did you get a full size aerial or short? I'll ask for another link if that's ok - last one I bought didn't fit!
I bought a 172 Cup for similar reasons (albeit I don't have a GTR!) in June. Always hankered for one and wish I bought mine sooner too! I'm also about to replace my KTEC stealth exhaust with a new OEM one for exact same reasons. I take it you didn't notice a loss of performance? I'm fitting OEM...
Thanks mate. He's smarter than I am that is for sure. One benefit of tinkering has been that I have set it better now so it's directly behind the n/s headlamp as recommended.
I think it could be done pretty cheap. Airbox isn't expensive and panel filter is £35. Probably similar costs to the...
 Agreed. Would appear I have answered my own question but I suppose part of the fun is learning yourself eh!
And if anyone wants one- B&Q have a cracking deal on Flymos at the mo 😂
Yeah I was missing one hose however I think that this is now directed right at the airflow behind the headlight so happier.
From what I can find on 197 net and also a few old posts here it seems to be the same box. Possibly angled slightly differently on mine so it fits- that's why we see a...
I would agree! I've learnt my lesson - don't waste time and effort pissing about with things he has done better than I could in the first place.
Anyway, loving the car. It went to Rentec for belts, service and full health check when I got it and they were happy.
I'm getting through my to-do...
It's certainly unusual isn't it. The previous owner was an engineer, mature too and he obviously really wanted to fit that box as it's been a lot of effort. I will need to get it on the RR to see what it puts out.
Here's the spec when I bought:
V6 255 airbox
KTEC sports cat, centre and backbox...
Refitted V6 box this morning. It's certainly a tight fit in there. Took it out for a drive and the low down pull and immediate throttle response is back. It's far superior. Chap I bought it from obviously knows a lot more than I do!
Here's the battery location
Washer bottle removed and...
Lovely looking car. Glad the RSTuner was of good use. It's made a big difference to my cup too.
Interested in the fatty induction kit. Have you got links to the bits you bought?
So the cold air feed pipe goes to the bottom hole? Not the hole on the right hand side? Where does the pipe go? Below the headlamp?
My battery has been relocated under the scuttle (left hand side). Basically above the left hand strut top.
Dug out the box of bits that came with the car and found original airbox!
Don't know if its fitted perfectly but it's fine. The cold air feed which was a b**ch to squeeze thru a tight gap so left it off. Breather pipe at top missing also. Don't know if that'll do much?
Took for a spin and its...
