In a nutshell, yep. I thought it would have been a more recognised thing here. He had the car since 2007 and looked after it well. Everything else is orthodox.
I doubt it's better than standard. It gives a loud warble / roar if that's your thing. It's not mine so will be looking at changing. Either OE or ph1 airbox.
Getting a chuckle out of this
Surely someone must have one like this or know what it is?! The guy went to a fair bit of effort relocating a smaller expensive battery to fit this. Other things done point to a fair bit of knowledge and common sense...
Hi guys,
I bought my 172 Cup in June and the previous owner had fitted this airbox. It doesn't look like other V6 ones I have seen - is it an Espace one? It's fitted with a panel filter and does make a nice sound.
My water temp needle usually sits just below half. On hard driving /...
There isn't really a legitimate concern there, it's just that I like Cups to have the original cloth seats. I like the purity of them! No big deal.
I would also make sure that your car comes with the original turini wheels as they are expensive and desirable. I wouldn't mind something of...
Personally I don't like that the seats have been changed.
Keep on the look out and don't rush in. There's plenty out there.
Mods or not on a car wouldn't swing my decision. If it has a few good additions then that will save you some £ and hassle. If not then you can always pick up things in...
Thanks for replies!
It certainly felt good before in corners but was nervous in a straight line under power (especially 5k+). As has been said, the toe would appear to have been well out.
Very happy now. Sharpness returned and more settled / stable with it. Money well spent. Rear ARB next....
Quick update: few more miles under the belt and tyres scrubbed in a little. Turn in has returned and in addition it feels more stable in a straight line and with increased ultimate grip. All good!
Hi guys,
Got full alignment done last week on a Hunter machine. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to things like this - what do you think of the numbers?
That morning I had my worn Bridgestone RE050A (front) Toyo T1R (rear) replaced with a set of new PS3. I have done about 100 miles since...
4 new PS3s on this morning, sitting in McD waiting on my 2pm appointment for geometry. Love days well spent!
Rather excited as already a huge improvement in the car since fitting Eibach sportlines to new Cup dampers and new top mount bearings last week.
I was a little late joining the Clio...
Nice list that. What about top mount bearings (£12 each)?
I had mine done (admittedly the old ones were horrible) and wow what a difference. Immediately noticeable with first input, the steering is now so light and smooth. It's fantastic
Lucky guy!
Your choice is very particular on his (and your!) personal preference. The Megane is a lot more refined, quieter, more comfortable etc. It will also make good progess without having to wring it's neck due to lots of torque and power low down.
The Clio on the other hand may feel a...
Good plan. I bought my 172 Cup as a second car in June, always fancied one too. Cracking little cars and offer great value.
Don't rule out getting one that's due the belts. Just make sure you alter the price to account for it. That way you are in control and can make sure it's done properly...
Ah, not what you want!
I've got Brembo HC discs, Mintex 1144 pads and braided brake lines. Probably stick some better fluid in and hopefully that will be good enough.
Thanks for the advice guys. Appreciate it. I will definitely take any chance to get out with an instructor and won't be spending much more modding the car - just going to enjoy it.
