This is why I opted for the R53 many moons ago. Now almost on 104k and not missed a beat and still an absolute hoot!
good luck with the R56, but apart from the fuel economy and good handling, its just a case of keeping the a hole clenched.
Looks vewy nice. Always had a soft spot for one of these and they look better than the new shape by a country mile.
Cant wait to get some amg goodness when the new c63 comes out!
Lovely car dude.
Must be still so tempting to mod though. Swapping out for pole positions will save you 30kg easily. 17" wheels and non RF tyres shed another 8 kg. Get some 2 pc discs for the front wheels and it will totally transform it for the better.
Have to say though the way a works...
I think around £10k is a good price to pay for one with reasonable mileage. These minis do last well if looked after, build quality is solid.
Bearing in mind the actual design prototype was released in 1995, for a shape that is nearly 20 years old it doesn't look dated at all.
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
I have had 205/40 and 205/45 on the mini. Have to say the smaller sidewall was nicer when the roads were smooth, but for everyday hooning the 45 is nicer. The 40's were Pirelli p zero Nero which are firm And the 45's I swapped to were Michelin pe2. Simply an amazing...
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
Should have got the 45 profile tyres mate. Although 40 is nice for a firmer sharper turn in, you have horrible arch gap even with coils. When you lower more you scrape.
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
If you stay at a sensible ride height you don't necessarily need adj arms. I am down about 20mm on the rear and still at -1.5 deg. I think with the stock arms you will be around -2 deg. The later models have a bit of adjustment.
I would spend the money on R56 rear...
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
Simple mods to improve the car;
Dave f / jcw airbox + 5-10hp
pulley go for a 11-15% reduction +20 hp
change brake fluid for Motul RBF 600, much more solid pedal
Non runflats
enjoy for a while.
I borrowed 1320's ds mcs with a mynes tune. So much more torque and fuel...
Totally see the appeal of these but they are a bit of a death trap. No so much the driver but other tossers on the road that could finish you off in one of these.
still I have a soft spot for mini jap hatches. Wish I scratched the gtir itch as well.
Got my dyno printout sent over today. They overlaid a stock cooper s with it so I could see the difference the jcw kit makes. All it needs is a nice tune to smooth out the curves!
Flywheel power worked out to be just under 220bhp.
Thanks guys. Yeah it took me ages to fall in love with it but it was worth sticking it out. Just a weekend toy now so look forward to having a blast at the end of each week!
mpg is not too bad really. On motorway if you stay around 70 you will easily get between 38-42 mpg without trying to...
