What's the plans for the car overall then? Other than a refresh?? Are you talking engine and all bits refreshing, or just bringing it back to how it should have been??
Six sider should normally do the trick, failing that mole grips or similar.
If it snaps off, drill it out!! Not difficult to do either, just use a smaller drill piece than the thread is so you can get the remaining out. If you need to drill it out then you'll want to pop the piston out too to...
Don't most cats need a "bedding in" so to speak??
If it's a new sports cat then don't rag the arse out of it straight away, will knacker it long term. Need to get it hot on a longer drive though
As with most things, you'll get what you pay for mate. Take it to someone who does it for 80, and you'll get 80's worth of work.

Ok, this is an old school trick... Not as straight forward as just taking the front one off to make it work out worthy...
You'll need to dramatically increase the rear arb size, remove front arb, stiffen up the dampers all round and spring lb/ft rating also.
The outcome is great for track cars...
My mum did this (worse in fact) to a rear wheel of a Volvo C70, 18 inch run flats. She said she must have done it the night before but was sure it was fine when she left the place she had been at... Then spent most of the journey through open country roads at 80!!
