They have little cut-out sections to make room for the bolts that hold the undertray on to the bumper. I always assumed the holes for the self tappers to hold the splitter on were pre-drilled into the splitter.
That's really bad! Like others have said, get on the blower to Renault. Good luck with it though - they refused to believe that their bonnets were faulty, so I find it unlikely they're going to do a great deal about this either!
I've always used a screwdriver with a square section bar and it's always doen the job just fine. The rear calipers are the same as those on my old 306 and I changed them numerous times.
