Start with pretty much a bare shell and go through it with a fine tooth comb. I have a T45 cage to help with keeping the weight down too

You can't, that's why I asked if it was cup packed. Doesn't matter so much about second hand Sachs. They are fully rebuildable so can be as fresh as they rolled out of the factory

It depends actually whether you have a cup packed 182. If you have, Sachs Trophy dampers, if you haven't Koni's are an option

For this year it will be just track days but once the car is properly dialed in and a few other mods are done, next year I would like to compete in a couple of hillclimbs

Thanks chaps, appreciated :) Haven't done this job yet Tony but it's a nice easy job. As the bonnet lifts off I will rivet a piece of black perspex to the back that is cut to follow the windscreen. Will put some louvres in it too because even that little test proved how much heat that gap was...
