I think the measure of a mapper is how busy they are, he is always busy! Maps his own time attack car which is circa of 750bhp.....Obviously there are many others, Simon Roe, Andy F, Paul Blamire just to name a few.
Duncan squeezed this out of my 20g, it doesn't set the world alight in and...
Duncan lives near me in Bournemouth but also travels for mapping. He mapped my last Impreza with a bloody good result for the turbo it was running.
For the stock ecu on Newage Imprezas he uses ECUtek sotfware but you need to pay a license or Open Source software(no license). If you know what...
There is really bugger all difference mechanically in UK versions but in JDM versions the blob has dccd and is twin scroll. The seats in the bug sti are slightly different and IMO, they feel better.
Many people fit the blob rear bumper and lights to freshen up the rear end, some people only fit...
The DCCD has its own ecu which is controlled via a roller switch located by the handbrake. There is a display indicator in the speedo binnacle which shows 6 settings, from Open diff to Locked diff. The Open setting is used for everyday driving, right up to Lock for slippery surfaces. There are a...
Total mine field...lol
They are not semi closed, all post 96 Classics have ODB's.....The block only comes into play north 500bhp.
Yes the later cars do have Subaru's own 4pots and 2 pots....The good thing about the later cars is the Brembos from 2001-2005 STI's bolt straight on the hubs, no...
Apart from the 22b, there is a story(im not sure if its true) that the Subaru techs say that the Version 3 STI is the best version because it was the first car that STI took away and were allowed to do what they wanted to it....The pre 96 STI's are WRX's taken from the production line and...
Fuji Heavy Industries
Subarus are a mine feild but ill try and explain block differences..
The Subaru block comes in 3 flavours....Closed Deck, Open deck and Semi closed deck. Some pre 96 cars(mainly series 1 cars and all RA's) came with the CDB, it was the cost of individually casting each...
It stiffens up the front but not to the point where it induces more understeer, not a bad mod and pretty cheap to buy, even new.....A good track mod for an Impreza is an uprated rear anti rollbar, leaving the front standard and an anti lift kit....
To be fair if its light track work then any Classic Impreza will do the job as long as you stay within the boundaries of the engine and gearbox, both are not great in Classic form. Having said that, the later('99-0n) TY54 gearbox's in the STI's/RA's and Type R's have a hardened gearset and do...
Yes UK Bug STI's to.....The Bug RA, Spec C and S202 have the VF34 which is the roller bearing version of the VF30 fitted to the JDM bug.
All 3 turbos (30, 34, 35) all had the same size compressor housing but hot side on the 30 and 34 is bigger than the 35....P18 as opposed to the P15
Basically.....The JDM has eveything the UK has plus...
The same heads but slightly bigger intake ports.
A VF30 turbo as opposed to the VF35 fitted to the UK (perfomance wise, nothing really in it)
Higher revving cams.
Rear wiper.
Electric folding mirrors.
The engines are the same...
I wouldnt get to hung up on a JDM bug sti because the difference between JDM and UK isnt as big as the JDM crew like to believe, unless you opt for the rare S202 or Spec C versions
