    Starting issue

Noticed this a bit more recently, it's only needed a second attempt to start the once so far but not sure how long that will last. Seems to only be when the car is cold that there's a notable delay from turning the key to the engine firing. It turns over fine but just takes that second or two...

    182 Trophy tapping/ticking

Topping up the tyre pressures there I noticed I could hear the sound further back from the engine roughly around the exhaust so could well be this. I'll need to get it in to the garage but hopefully that's all it is.

    182 Trophy tapping/ticking

The idle is certainly rough enough yet apparently perfectly normal. Cheers for that suggestion though, may well explain why it's harder to hear when listening at the engine bay.

    182 Trophy tapping/ticking

Here's a video, turn the volume up- Didn't get one from outside as there's no way you'd have been able to make it out.

    182 Trophy tapping/ticking

Just noticed this tapping/ticking sound recently and as far as I can tell it's only when the car's up to temperature. I had the cambelt, aux. belt, dephaser and water pump changed in the last 300 miles or so at SWR in Stirling. I'll try and get a recording but for the time being- Hard to...

Help - Need a Garage around Dundee to look at my Cup

I'll bump this. Are Valentine Motors in Dundee to be recommended for timing belts then?

Cheers but I don't have permission to view that. Do I need a minimum number of posts?

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

Turned out to be a polybush that had some movement in it, but not even that much apparently. Replaced both front wishbones to keep them the same across the axle and OEM.

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

Mechanic said nothing was obvious so swapped the dampers and springs over but the noise persists- which is good I suppose really! I've suggested the items MarcR mentioned. There couldn't be anything that would make a higher pitched creak when going over a bump (left wheels only) that wasn't...

Good, that will save on any labour, although fingers crossed they're not required!

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

I'll be taking it in later today. If it was to be a damper issue, I have a spare set of cup springs and dampers to put on. Can I get away with just putting them on the front?

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

Well it's booked in the garage right after the M5 gets its oil service. Hopefully nothing shock related in the Christmas shopping month...

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

I'll have a look with the wheel off when I get a chance. Given the sound is a fairly loud creak/crash, is that likely to be indicative if a problem with the shock would you say? I like to think it's something else given they were only refurbished last Summer.

Have you tried going over speed bumps? It's every time with them for me.

    182 Trophy Suspension noise

Just started to notice this more recently. It's not really apparent at speed, only occasionally showing itself but at low speed going over speed bumps and the like there's an obvious creak/crash from the front left of the car. It's definitely the left as I've made sure to go over speed bumps...

Top 3 tyres for best grip in cold/wet conditions

This is worth noting. Having used winter tyres for the last 4 winters on various BMW's, it's much closer to 0 degrees before you notice any real benefit- more like 3 degrees and below. And no benefit in the dry.

    Michelin pilot sport 3

I may actually go for the Goodyear Eagles. They're the same price and tend to have faired better in most reviews.

    Michelin pilot sport 3

It depends entirely on your own personal circumstances. If you're commuting at 5am every morning you'll have a stronger case for fitting them, for example.

    Michelin pilot sport 3

Thinking about investing in these when funds allow. The Kumho KH17's the car came with are crap in the wet.

    Steering Wheels (Snappy Ones)

I've just bought a Trophy and pretty sure the seller said snappy had done the wheel on it, top work I have to say!

    Gearchange- 3rd to 4th

Well I'm pleased to say I just took it for a 50 mile thrash, making a point of slowing the shifts down slightly and it's fine. Certainly provides a contrast to my M5. It's more or less the antithesis of it in almost every respect (good and bad) Started the M5 up to move it on my drive and I...

    Gearchange- 3rd to 4th

Pretty quickly, I'll take it a bit easier and see how I get on. Hopefully that's all that's required. I've no idea what kit is comprised of.

    Gearchange- 3rd to 4th

I know it's got a short shift kit already, unsure of the make though. Is this potentially a case of the 'boxes not liking being rushed rather than there necessarily being any synchro problems? I know the 197 problems are plentiful, is the 182 gearbox a bit more robust, in general?

    Gearchange- 3rd to 4th

I've just bought a Clio Trophy and on the drive back yesterday I noticed the change from 3rd to 4th occasionally has a bit of a sound, not sure if I'd call it a crunch as such but it is noticeable. Only seems to happen when changing gear quickly (as far as I can tell so far) and even then not...
