Hi,
Both upper parts of the strut and top mount were assembled the same way. I have measured with calipers to check there were no discrepancies and they are identical. On inspection one rubber mount visible sits snug in the strut well and the other does not. This is exactly what I had with...
Hi Rob,
I have replaced the top mounts again, this time making sure that they are genuine rubber mounts being installed. On the short test drive I have not been able to tell if it's improved the car. I will have to see what happens on some motorway miles and hope that this will cure the...
Hi,
This evening I removed both front struts and they are identical. I have checked the top mount rubbers with calipers and they measure the same.
I will be going round all the fixings again tomorrow morning but I am otherwise at a loss. Mechanically I have not found anything to suggest the...
Hi,
Having done some further digging around on the internet I have happened to come across this thread: https://www.cliosport.net/threads/suspension-top-mount-what-have-i-done-wrong.770396/
The photographs given match what mine is like exactly. That would suggest that the new rubber from the...
Hi
No new discs on the car in my ownership.
The wheels nuts were my first point of attention, as on the first time I experienced the symptoms I thought a wheel had worked loose.
I have checked the engine for lateral movement and there is none.
Going back to the photo I attached of the...
Hi,
Yes, all components installed correct.
The only components which have not been replaced over the past eighteen months are the springs and steering rack bushes.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I can't say I have noticed the handling deteriorate recently, and the dampers on all four corners have been replaced less than a month ago.
A defective part is not impossible though. But surely it would happen consistently on every bump in the surface, rather than...
Hi,
My FF Clio 182 has developed an occasional but severe vibration which takes place at speeds above 40 mph and I cannot trace the cause.
Symptoms are that at speeds above 40 mph, a bump in the road can cause violent vibrations which shake the front of the car as if a wheel had come loose or...
Hi
I might be setting my Clio 182 aside as my second car rather than my daily driver. Does anyone do classic or specialist second car insurance policies for these?
Thanks
Hi
Thanks for the comments. I think I will follow your suggestions.
What would you suggest about the heat shields? Do you know what the people racing these cars do about the rear most heat shield?
Thanks
Hi
The past winter has not been so kind to the underside the Clio 182. Underseal has been damaged or hardened and split, allowing water in and this has caused areas of corrosion around the rear parts (i.e. boot floor and structures either side). The rear heat-shield is also corroded from...
Hi Bloke
What type of connector is on it? Is it easy access from underneath once the front of the car is on axle stands? Is it easy to unclip or fiddly like the injector rail connector?
Thanks,
Hi Bloke
Thanks for the video link. Having watched that, there was no chance of me getting that connector on with the hose still attached to the car. At least I know for future reference whenever I come across those hoses.
PS. In case anyone needs the part no. for the hose it is 8200268626...
Hi guys
In attempting to soften it enough to fit, I managed to melt the end of the pipe. In cutting the melted part off the pipe is now too short to use.
I tried fitting it without heating the pipe up but there was no way it going to fit in the pipe. Is this a symptom of the pipe ageing and...
Hi
The U shaped bracket yes I probably could have done, pipe connector I'm not sure as in my futile attempts to reuse the pipe I have destroyed the end and it is now too short (see other thread in technical section).
It just annoyes me that what was supposed to be a straightforward job of an...
Having read on here that heating the pipe up meant that you can replace just the connector, I can confirm this does not work. I have resorted to cutting the old connector off in the hope that there should be enough pipe left, but then found that even with heating the pipe it would not soften...
Hi
It's just items like having had the injectors out (to replace one), I then needed to replace all the O-rings on those injectors. I eventually sourced some but had to wait for delivery. Likewise, as I can't easily replace the connector to the injector rail I am in the process of working out...
Having ran other older cars, like Fords (and even Land Rovers), the parts supply has generally been more on the shelf. But I guess this is my first performance orientated car so I suppose there is less of them around to keep stocks for in the first place....
Hi
In my nineteen months of Clio 182 ownership I have found more and more often that whilst certain parts are available, they have to be ordered in over a period of days.
I have also found that on starting some jobs, you then only find out about some other associated issues or further parts...
The fuel rail is reassembled and back on with new O rings and the new injector. Problem is I need to replace the fuel line connector to the injector rail as the original one does not clip that well and the o rings have perished. I have a new one from Ktec but cannot work out how to remove this...
Hi
I have had the injector rail off and the O rings for the injectors are past their best and the fuel line connector to injector rail O-rings have split.
Where can I get a set of injector and fuel rail O rings from? Do they need to be resistant to petrol exposure?
Thanks!
