Hi
Would someone be able to explain to me the Ackermann angle and how having a different offset affects this?
I remember reading that on the Clios it doesn't make much difference having greater or less offset (within reason), but then if that was the case why did the 172 Cup have different...
Hi
If you ask me, I think the corrosion resistance of these Clios is pretty good compared to a lot of other cars from that same period!
Remember the youngest 182 is now 13 years old, and the oldest 172 is around 18 years now isn't it?
Hi Guys
I had the bumper and bonnet painted last summer and the car has collected quite a few visible stone chips. The bumper and bonnet were painted using the non-baked method (I'm not sure how it works mind). Is this type of paint a lot softer than the baked paint?
I ask as I will...
I found the cause was the rod had not been aligned correctly which is why the gate had moved to the driver's side. Undid the bolt, twisted the rod and did it up again and all is good.
Thanks for the help!
Hi
I've been trying to track down a pair of genuine roof bars for the Clio 182 but they seem to be pretty rare.
What others have people experience with which are good as or better than the genuine items?
This is so I can carry the bike without having to dismantle it every time I want to take...
Hi
My Clio 182 has recently had the clutch changed and since getting the car back I have found that the gear lever is no longer central. The gear lever centres to the right and gears are over to the right with narrower gate distances between third and fifth.
How do I adjust this at the gearbox...
Hi,
A couple of questions, when the sub frame is slackened off / partially removed, does it require realigning or can the sub frame only fit in one place?
Will the suspension tracking require setting afterwards?
Do you bother replacing the crank seal whilst it is apart as well?
Thanks guys.
I have just read a method posted by Scrooge from some time ago. They said that dropping one side of the frame was enough to slide the box across without disturbing rad coolant etc. Is that right?
Thanks
Hi bloke,
Thanks. Is that to take the gearbox out or just slide it back to replace the clutch?
If the latter, can you get access to the release bearing?
I also like how that they've got the filter at just a slight angle, so as you unwind it the oil then drains out all over the front of the block and pools in all the strengthening ribs!
Good evening all,
I'm likely to be carrying out the clutch change on my Clio 182 following the symptoms of a broken spring on the pressure plate (which a renault garage also concluded) due to inconsistent clutch drag problems.
I have read a few of the guides on here and elsewhere. It looks as...
Thanks for the replies.
Bloke, having seen the video without sound, am I right thinking that the cluch pedal is part of the brake pedal assembly so it all comes out as one?
Presuming that I can unclip the brake pedal from the master cylinder and withdraw it all as one unit to work on the bench?
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
I have had a read of your linked post and note the symptoms are similar to mine. So in principle, the friction surface of the clutch can still be okay but its the diaphragm spring which begins to flex excessively before it moves the friction plate?
I am...
Hi again,
I appreciate it's not been long since I posted the topic, but I'd like to have a go at this during the weekend so any info would be great, thanks!
Hi guys,
Just as an update, without having changed anything the car will now start first time every time when cold rather than having to go through the double prime / ignition live routine before cranking. Not sure what's changed but maybe it's the colder weather?!
Thanks
Hi
I don't think my clutch pedal is auto adjusting. I had to do a manual reset a short while back which seemed to cure the problem but the clutch is dragging again now.
How do I remove the mechanism and pedal from the car so I can clean it up and regrease?
(Car is Clio 182)
Thanks
Good morning,
I've since had a check of the front suspension, and all fixings are tight and I can't find anything that moves or clunks. I have felt the suspension with someone going lock to lock and again cannot find anything untoward.
I have attached photographs of the top mounts and their...
Hi,
This is a post out of interest more than needing it at the moment! But didn't some variants of the Clio 172 / 182 engine when installed in other cars and vans do without the dephaser pulley?
As it's alleged the dephaser is for emissions only, is there any reason why this could not be...
Good point about springs maybe not seating right. I guess as they're Eibach and depending how the wishbone were replaced could mean one isn't seated right. Will check
Thanks all for the replies. Will let you know what I find.
Thanks for quick replies guys!
The top mounts are installed securely and have not come loose (checked several times thinking the same thing!). Yes you are right in that I have installed the original design, as the "revised" kit I got was with the wrongly manufactured all in one nuts. I just...
