I've Always been a fan of the Alpine CDE-111R. Base level alpine unit, costs 100-150 quid. Literally the best sounding unit i've ever owned, Ipod compatible (iphone 4 too) and you can get the lead for like £4 on ebay, and it's available with an orange back light (matching the clio's dials)...

I did. It does not work :P You are doing exactly the right thing. Get the cheap to run + insure run around, mod it until you enjoy it, then when the time comes get the power. Love that colour - should pull of the sport look in great style.
