Last Sunday in the month again - so thats 27th?
Could be Jamie - yeah be nice to meet a few others. Think last time I went I was on crutches in November and it was bl00dy cold!
I'm a big fan of Raceglaze '55' when I'm waxing, was tempted by the good reports I've read on these hydro sealants though so tried it for the sake of £12.
I'm in Newark mate.
You'll have to drop me a PM - I've been to one of the Tawny Owl meets, but there was only me and Chip-mk1 there. :(
Great work Jamie, how do you rate the Zymol Carbon ???
Just done the RB182 this week and I've finished mine in Carpro Hydro2 sealant. Awesome stuff, highly recommended
I'll have to keep an eye out for you in town mate.
So today, I got around the engine bay again and cleaned up the block and inlet manifold.
Trying to keep it as OEM, original and un modified as I can, so it was just a tickle up with the wire brush which worked wonders.
I have a few bits to do tomorrow/monday, so will be sure to add new pics...
Could try cleanyourcar.co.uk too
A nice combo of shampoo and top up detailing spray is the SONAX range.
Sonax Gloss shampoo - £4.99
Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer - £11.99
You will have great looks on a budget that would leave proper detailers envious (on a £ for £ basis anyway)
I've got...
Wonder if a V6/Trophy spoiler has been fitted?
They are slightly bigger than the standard Cup Spoiler and need different gas struts iirc so this doesn't happen
Either this or your gas struts have been changed and the stroke length is wrong?
Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner
WD40
Jeffs Werkstatt Prime (cleaner polish)
Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care (I did the mesh grille under the reg.plate with this, sprayed on, walked off and left it…came back hours later, looked great)
Autoglym Bumper Care (for the grille either side of the Renault...
Thanks Daniel
Coolant may be ready for a full flush and change soon, so might get a new bottle after all when its being done.
I've just been searching other peoples posts on cleaning the manifold and possibly painting.
I'd like to just get it looking clean(er) and original though.
Nowt wrong with that one. It holds coolant, so does its job :rasp:
A lot of faffing about just to make it look a bit better when I don't need to.
Thanks for the heads up though - for £13 when its needed its cheap enough cheers mate
182 Cup is over 9 years old now, and passed its MOT with no advisories earlier this week.
I've enjoyed a bit more detailing just recently and it was all detox'd and Carpro Hydro2'd on Monday. Nice product.
The engine bay has never been cleaned, so yesterday I got round, finally, to giving it a...
Raceglaze '55'
Prob nearer to £60 for a pot but it really is a great wax and superb to apply and remove.
When topping up, I apply this literally by hand, direct to the palm, and it goes on so much better than with an applicator in my opinion
Leave on the panel 10-15 mins and buff off.
Thing...
Did both mine last weekend by hand.
1 small sheet of 2000 grit wet and dry, followed by 2500 & 3000 grit - £1ea
Whatever polish youve got on your garage shelf - it will get the 3000grit sanding marks out, no massive need for a polisher (though I've got two, but didnt use either)
Sealant

Great thread Laura, what a cracking car to have, even for a year or so, to look out at and say...."thats mine"
You've done what I'd love to do.
Good luck in the house/ runabout 4x4 ventures. :)
Northy, I'll say one thing, I had a ph2 172 (03 plate) and my current RB 182 Cup is miles and miles ahead of what the 172 felt like.
Certainly the cup chassis and handling is great, but as a whole rounded package, there are just tiny little bits that make it appreciably better.
I hear you went...
Nothing wrong with the 182 either, all its requirements were satisfied by MicKPM earlier this year. ;)
As above though, it needs a wash... triple (compound) fracture to the ankle and a broken leg does not lend to very easy car washing at the weekend. :(
Been off work 9 weeks.
Fair play to Kris coming on here defending his corner.
And fair play also to James for backing down and apologising if his comments were a bit strong.
I hope both you two guys get something sorted.
Clio 182 alloys would go well on it. A guy on Twingo133.net had anthracite ones on his black twingo, it looked great.
The standard wheels with the blue inserts look awful, as do the RS ones.
I had black inserts on mine.
I kept the stripes, only had it as a play thing, and bought it with the...
I know pops and bangs are amusing to a certain extent, but do they cause any damage to the cat or anything??
I suppose a lot of guys have decats prior to mapping.
Mine really rusted up to start with but since they now have a couple of thousand miles on them they are looking good and wearing nice and evenly with the Brembo pads fitted at Diamond Motors.
When I am up and about and able to walk again I will whip the wheels off and give then centres and...
Cant play the vid Scutch and no link for me ???
I have to admit when the whole HDMI cable thing first came about I was advised by Richer Sounds to get two really good cables for the BluRay and the XBox360.
They were £30 each and whilst they are both good quality, and dont suffer from any...
Spot on Chip and Cup_Phil.
Looking forward to meeting you guys at the next Newark meet, we can compare tyre stories. ;)
Have to say, these Rainsports do look good on the car.
I'm happy knowing the mrs has a very good performing wet tyre through the bad weather, and the slightly lower...
Good post is1. :)
I had V rated RS2 fitted on the front, but when the rears arrived a couple of days later they were W rated.
I dont know if this has much of an effect on the balance, or sidewall stiffness as I've only driven the car a couple of times since, but I was initially disappointed...
