Thanks ^^^
Tried blow torch & grips to no avail. So I pushed the studded end of a long bolt with a 17mm hex head, into the fubar'd square hole of the sump plug & welded it to the sump plug.
Result! With the new bolt welded to the messed up sump plug, I just turned the bolt (and sump plug)...
So the Clio is long over due for an oil change... Took her to a local garage and put her up on the ramp. Had a look at the sump plug and it would seem that some grease monkey has over tightened it without using the proper tool. The female square insert (8mm iirc) is completely burred, stripped...
Here's the link for the Bosch mini-relay £5.75 Brand New http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-Bosch-Mini-Relay-0332017300-/230856514750 I think it's compatible with the 5 pin OE mini-relays that cost approx £18.50 from Renault but probably best to check first with the seller if they're 10 or 20amp...
Most welcome! Hope you get it sorted... Here's a pic of the 5amp fuse for the immobilizer circuit (circled in white). If it's blown you may get a solid red light that doesn't extinguish when you turn the ignition on. If you remove the fuse box cover on the passenger side of the dash, just...
No problem! I've used the pic above to label the relays according to the info that I've sourced.
I can't be a 100% about the two big brown relays, it could be the other way around, i.e. Fuel pump nearest to wing & A/C fan control nearest to the 3 mini-relays?
There are some more pics &...
Halfrauds in Charlton South London @ approx 18:30 hrs, Wed 19th Nov... Cleaning your rear quarter panel in a poorly lit car park, wearing suit & tie! Blue 1*2 Replica with 2 thick white stripes down the middle. VRN: LX02 ZSN
PH2 Expression 1.2 16V according to my sources lol...

Recently had more 'starting' issues... So I bought a new battery from Hal-frauds HCB063 (Calcium, maintenance free type). Only £10 more than the standard HB063 Lead Acid type.
Fitted the new battery and clamp (properly). The previous owner had put the clamp in first! So the old battery was...
Does anyone have a key / diagram for relays on a non-sport ph2?
Here's a pic (similar but not identical to my Clio)...
I think one the thin brown relays is causing starting problems.
I know I can swap them around & try to narrow it down by process of elimination but it would be very...
Nope! Can't be bothered to take pics.. It's a tiny dipstick, very low down & tight access, simples!
I think you've hit the nail on the head, saying "tiny clio engine bay"... Larger engine bays like my scooby are no problem. The dipstick for the front diff is much lower down with a tiny...
So, with regard to the Renault tech that told me there's a modified aftermarket dipstick with a longer handle (for ph2 1.4 / 1.6 / 2.0 16V)
When I do get it out, should I stick him in the eye with it for telling me porkies!?
Also this eBayer...
With A/C and auto tranny it's pretty cramped ;)
Just as tight to get to as a 182!
Maybe it was an 8V manual without air-con? Re. "man up" lol... That's the problem, my big man hands won't squeeze in there... I'm sure a girl could get to it no problem ;)
Immobilizer problems wouldn't stop you turning the key...
If your Clio is a phase 2 (post 2001)....
You can transfer the internal parts of your original transponder key to the new one (if it's the same type of housing). The key blade is fixed to one side of the plastic housing but all the...
My Clio has the ph2 K4J (1.4 16V) engine & the engine oil dipstick is very low down in the engine bay with a tiny (stubby) handle!
I can't get my hand down far enough to reach the dipstick, to check the level / condition of the oil. I know the service menu display says "oil ok" but I prefer to...
If you're not looking for dedicated winter tyres then 'Michelin HP Primacy' are very good for wet conditions imho.. Dedicated winter tyres, I'd personally opt for Goodyear Ultra Grip's..
Very nice example! If you'd like a genuine red JDM (breakdown / emergency) flare with mounting bracket, (usually fitted in passenger footwell) just send me a PM... Not for use on the Public Highway of course (due to ridiculously strict UK laws). Just off road, car shows etc.
Selling an OE...
Once the new seat has been fitted (not sure about the pretensioner) you should be able reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery negative lead for 20 mins or so. If everything is connected up properly, in theory the airbag light shouldn't come back on... But I'd wait for someone with first hand...
As above ^^^
Also.. http://www.renparts.co.uk/ or http://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-RENAULT-CLIO-BONNET-CATCH-LOCK-LATCH-/270714366475
Removed the front grille (at night, pitch black with a flash light) because the grille was getting caught by the bonnet striker spring, each time I opened the bonnet.
2 x plastic rivet clips each side (top of grille) and then hand right down where the bottom of the grille 'clips' to the bumper...
Great Pics! Love the old GC8C. They did make some improvements to the later models. My scooby is the MY97 2.2 short block with forged pistons & rods (moly coated pistons). The piston skirt was reshaped and the piston weight was reduced by approximately 100 grams. Compression ratio was increased...
So, one of plastic rivets has popped out from the top of my front grill (mk2 ph2) causing the bonnet catch spring to get caught on the grill when I open the bonnet. The whole grill has moved back towards the engine bay & won't push into place.
I need to remove the grill & replace it.. but...
