Recently had problems starting the car... The engine would crank but not fire up.
Tested the battery with a multimeter (12.57v open circuit) Hal-frauds 'Super' Maintenance free. Starter motor & alternator both ok.
Removed the battery lead clamps (black 'Neg' first) & cleaned battery posts...
Had a few problems starting the Clio, so I'm in the process of trying to find out what's wrong..
Here's the thread..
Urgent help needed! Immobilizer issue?
One of the things I've already checked is the dashboard service menu (press and hold the ADAC button on the end of the wiper stalk &...
Thanks for taking time to reply.. Hopefully I'll figure it out (definately won't be taking it to a dealer for diagnostics because they'll take your hard earned money and generally speaking don't know how to interpret the data!).
Might have to buy a new battery? Tested the open circuit voltage...
Update.. The problem has got worse and the car will only start using the immobilizer bypass trick
Does anyone know what could be wrong? Even some suggestions would be helpful ;)
Currently.. Pirelli P4000's up front & Avon ZT5's at the rear..
Might switch to Firestone F590's though?
Goodyear UltraGrip 8's for winter...
(Michelin Primacy HP's all round on my scooby.. Like Pilot's just better!)
Thanks Mick, Any ideas which 'something else' ?
Also just discovered (speaking to the missus) that she presses the c/l button on the dash, to lock the doors before she starts the car (women!)..
Could that confuse the immob system?
i.e. immob attempting to arm at the same time she is...
So when my missus when to start the Clio to rtn home from work late last night, the car
wouldn't start.
Ignition ON, immob light goes from flashing to steady red, then extinguishes, turn the key
& starter motor engages briefly (about 1 second) possibly a minor crank of the engine but
nothing...
Thanks JCC, much appreciated.. fortunately there's no rust etc. Just two tiny bulges & wasn't sure if that was normal. The other side is a perfect seam.
I won't worry about it.. ;)
Regards, Steve
This is what they should look like... Might be helpful?

Deep clean yesterday.. Boot carpet & spare wheel out, rear seat bench up & hoovered all the nooks & crannies that don't get seen.
Cleaned behind all the rubber door seals (to get rid of moss & other crap that's built up over the years).
Put everything back & valeted the whole car, plus more...
Sorry I didn't make it.. the missus took the Clio to work (left me with the scooby) & got roped into overtime.. didn't get back 'til midnight..
Hopefully meet you all next time!
Question about the Clio II Chassis / floor pan..
On the rear door sill (both sides) there is factory seam or weld, presumably where the boot floor pan joins with the main floor pan (I think). Mine is a 5 door so I don't know if this is the same on a 3 door model.
I noticed that the weld or...
Yep.. thought I was right! Here you go @incy-spider

It's okay, we all make mistakes.. Doesn't matter to me anyway.. I was just trying help the op ;)
Just glad that I didn't provide the wrong...
Okay.. honest mistake, thought the ph2 Sport had two separate fuel filters.. one inside the fuel pump housing and one 'inline'. Don't own a 182 so I was only going by the fact that euro car parts sell an 'inline' filter for the 'RenaultSport PH2 2.0 16v'
Like I say.. honest mistake ;)
Sorry in advance for reviving an old thread..
Changed my key fob battery today using the method in the youtube clip & it worked a treat. Mine was seriously stuck & I definately would have boshed it using brute force.. Very handy tip!
Also just for the record, there's loads of b*llox on the...
