Dan I was at Brighouse BCA about 6 months ago I saw two go through for over 9k+. Prices have dropped a bit since then. TTs seem to fetch more than book when in a desirable spec and low mileage. I had two TTs and had no issues shifting either of them... gone in a matter of days.

Did you hit the steering wheel or any other part of trim? if not then they didn't need to go off. Straight into the back of someone, spreads the force quite evenly across the crash structures even if cosmetically it looks bad. but there does seem to be quite a bit of damage by your description...
