Thought that I would start something off, to hopefully assist anybody else looking at entering this series if all goes ahead for 2014.
I have always been very keen on motor racing, as my late Father did various circuit racing, hillclimbing and sprinting, so I grew up on racetracks. So it feels...
As I guessed beforehand, yours is affected more than mine. As I showed you, it is possible to hang on to third in mine but only just. Don't really want to be grabbing another gear mid bend.
Any idea on what we are going to have interior wise Tony?
I know you said original glass etc. but remove everything else - carpets, lining, door cards, glove box?
Well they are but don't forget that you may well need to spend on brakes, wheel bearings, tie rods, ball joints etc. etc.
I could have quoted a bare minimum figure that may well be right for some, but nowhere near what others may have to spend. These budgets have a habit of increasing very...
Nice Josh but some of us have the other good springs already fitted so I wouldn't want to buy some others.
How about offering a discount if they put some of your stickers on the car?
Just food for thought, throwing an idea out there.
Sorry, I mean it's an extra tenner for them to remove and refit (£30 total inc powdercoat at £20) Unless you really know him well, I'd leave it to City.
Car plus about 3k to get ready for your first race. Just a rough guide figure, all depends what the car's like to start with. That 3k is assuming it's in a reasonably good state to start with.
If you're totally new to all this and have a totally standard car, probably over £4000 may well be needed.
If it's Devil's Elbow (the left hander after the hairpin) there's two reasons:
1. You soon run out of revs as you go downhill and....
2. It seems to settle the car better for the drop and adverse camber.
It's a really weird bend when you drive it, when you get it right, it still sometimes...
I'd have been off even quicker but part of me said "Of FFS, do I or don't I. Sod it just don't break it!"
Thanks again for that Tony! Great couple of days for me.
I think there was a variance of about 40 bhp between Tony, James and Ian at the weekend.
Could somebody tell me who had more because I wouldn't know from watching the races. So far it seems that it's just me and Nick that have expressed a genuine interest and I don't think either of us care what...
I think those of us that are genuinely interested are all, pretty much in the same boat Matt. We're just trying to get some basic ideas down first. As you say the regs need finalising and then I can get everything I need done from there.
Depends what you're using it for. If just for road use, then I wouldn't bother touching it personally. If you're after power, then it's not going to make much difference, unless you're willing to spend a few grand. If you're after numbers, then a genuine 200bhp car is going to be cost between...
Cheers Nick. The subscription ones are about £200 less to find at first though. I know it would work out more in the long term, but that's the cost of a racesuit.
Tony, am I right in presuming we will need a TSL transponder? If so the subscription ones seem a more cost effective alternative to minimise initial outlay.
