Tony as a rough guide for anyone interested.
Am I right in thinking these are our basic requirements and rough BARE MINIMUM COSTS:
FIA approved suit, gloves and boots. Balaclava? £500 Clubman specs - what approval number?
Snell approved helmet (believe 2005 approved is ok until 2017)£150ish...
Still in very early stages, I think next season is the reality. Give us chance to get setup with both car and regs. Also give us chance to get ARDS etc. No point rushing, I'd rather be a bit more prepared for next year. Even with my car almost right bar stripping, cage etc. I don't think I'm...
Still another grand to pay out on a "budget" series though isn't it? Then buying even better secondhand ones could come into it, where do you draw the line?
As you and I well know, these budgets can easily get blown out of all proportion. Keeping things almost stock creates a reasonable...
Can of worms as all down to personal preference Richard. Plenty of different opinions.
My suggestions would be Cup shocks or if you want to pay the extra then Konis as you say. Presume your Eibachs are Sportlines which are ideal, Whiteline ARB if you feel the need to. Ferodo DS2500 pads and...
Well they put the Stig in a Mini Works GP and he lapped Donington in 1:29.8 seconds. I can do it in my Clio, in a similar spec that's being proposed for this series in 1:30s.
I still have a lot to learn and still don't class myself as up to my potential, but the Mini has about 50 bhp and lb/ft...
Well after just watching Top Gear, I'd have been breathing down The Stig's neck at Donny in mine. So these cars have potential in the state of tune that's being proposed.
Nick, I'd probably drive to the events in the car. Nothing stopping it being road legal still.
I think 1k is perhaps a little over the top, maybe about £700 per event. You've only got 3 x 15 minute sessions, so not even half a track day in reality. Entry is around £300 I think. I will stand...
In reality, my cup shocks have done more track miles than probably all the racers' coilovers put together on here. Can't see how you can say they aren't up to it.
Just in case anybody is interested but hasn't got a clue where to start looking for more info.
