Sorry forgot to answer the question. Id pay no more than £1800. Performance is about 8.5 to 60, better than a Saxo VTR, nice performance boost at about 4,000 rpm too. I think mine did about 120 top. But you can see the fuel gauge dropping when hammering the car.

Mine was Monaco blue. Had a sunroof that leaked a bit into the immobiliser box, it wasnt very good on fuel either (my 172 is better). Apart from that it was good. I had no ABS and agree that the brakes werent great, although it had discs all round!

Sorry about the car, Omar. Probably down to the foolishness that goes with being young, and that some people never grow out of. Sad world! Anyway off now to go racing in Bristol!!
See ya, Rob669
One of my Michelin PE2s has a dirty great nail in it. I might try and get a puncture repair instead of replacing it as its very new. But are puncture repairs safe?

I want to know the correct order please to bleed the brakes on a 172 Mk1. I think its nearside rear, nearside front, offside rear and offside front. Am I right?
Cheers
Im in the same situation, Omar. I want to brake later and harder on track days. I think regular brake bleeding is important, as well as replacing parts. For brake bleeding does anyone know the right sequence for a 172?
Cheers, Rob
Welcome to the club. Lots of threads on here about exhausts. I replaced my 172s exhaust with a custom made jobbie from Prospeed in Cardiff. Well worth it. Charlie will make whatever exhaust you want and they have a good reputation.
Give me a Mk1 172 (at 1035kg) or Mk2 172 Cup (at 1021kg) anyday over the Trophy. I suspect the new dampers are pretty pointless. How many of us will push that hard, that often, for it to be worthwhile? The true hot hatch, IMO, should just be fast and light, cheap to maintain and be painted...
ClarkieV6 posted something on this topic recently, as a garage owner he knows the facts I reckon. I seem to remember it was aroung the 300 quid price including the pulley kit. Dont go to Reno!
It will rise to prominence again. No pics yet but will try and post some after the repairers have looked at it. It was that damn Clyst St Mary island where people push in from the inside lane heading to the motorway, youll probably know it well Clarkie.
Im gutted! My imacculate Mk1 silver 172 was crashed into by a dirty great black van on the way to work. The bstard just pulled straight over into my lane. I now have a damaged wing, big black scratches across the panel under the front headlight and a sratch on the Oz alloy wheel. Just hope I...
As its too hot to wash the car Im thinking about taking the carpet stuff off the underside of the bonnet instead. Anyone else done it? Does it make the car rattle/a bit louder? Must save a couple of kgs.
No more comments about your spelling then, I reckon the system will need to be bleed to get the air out. It sounds as though you need a new cap for the master cylinder (the tank part), maybe it wasnt put on quite right. Be interested to know what Renault say.
Immaculate blue valver at Tesco car park this evening, Exmouth. Gold lettering on the back and cliosport sticker. Fancy light work. Shiney gold wheels etc
I think theres a company in Southampton too who import ITRs. Met them at Thruxton recently and they do a stripped out version if your interested - looked great in Hondas championship white!
Midlife (Dave), dont change it just because it smells, get it checked out first on a gas analyser. All catalytic converters smell when the engines cold, they take time to warm up before they work properly. I think they smell like prunes though?
Only ever seen him parked up round the square. Theres a couple of Clios I sometime see: a red valver, a blue 172 cup and a monaco blue valver in slightly poor condition.
Cheers, might spot you sometime driving along the seafront if I can see you through all the Maxpower lot.
Mines titanium silver and I also live by the coast, spooky!
I think the Mk1 looks better and the Mk2 is the plain one. Would have gone for the Mk 2 Cup but it only saves 15 or 16 kg over the Mk1.
If it helps my RSi 1.8 clio was twitchy, it seemed to follow any slight groove in the road surface. But then I found that this only happened when the tyres were about 50% worn. When the tyres were newer it never happened.
