I'd try and negotiate a cam belt change if it hasn't been done already. Also the exhaust, they tend to rot really quickly, and get 4 good tyres on each corner. Look on top of the engine under the inlet manifold and around the bolts - check how many bolt holes have pools of oil aroud them. Mine...
Not sure if it helps but I saw the clio cup racers being washed after the first race recently. They were being thoroughly washed under their bonnets - around everything with loads of suds and water. Then next minute they were flying round a racing circuit. Shouldn't do too much harm.

I can imagine that happening m8 as I read it. Lucky escape I reckon. With this stormy weather lately best going a bit slower on those back roads me thinks.

If there's a hole in your exhaust under your car you're going to start to get headaches. It's carbon monoxide poisoning. Even a little hole will allow gas to seep into your car when it's standing still. I found it was pointless filling in holes, just blew it out when you open the car up. You...
I wonder if Pro-speed can do it for you? They offer manifolds and catalysts, in addition to the usual stainless steel cat-back exhausts. He might be able to conjur up a 182 manifold for you that will fit?

It's there, you can be sure of it. Get the engine warm first buddy. Don't want to hear about another dead cliosport! You have to really welly the engine for it to show.

Welcome Lindsay, if you like yellow Clio's I know a gentleman garage owner who's selling one. A 172 and with a newish engine. It's down in Devon, in Exmouth. Hope it's still for sale after telling you all this!

You lot oughta move to the coast. Mines only got down to -0 degrees - I guess it means about minus 0.4 degrees? Still cold enough for that hat and gloves. Keep smiling though, eh, soon be spring!

Wear a hat and put on gloves for that cold knob (fnah). Stops running down your battery because otherwise the heater is on continuously. Keep your distance from other mortals on the road, that way you see them skid first, also it saves your car from stone chips and muck etc. Wait for the dry...
I have the original 172 Cup brochure, it seems to be the wheels.
I agree, Day. I felt how light those Oz Superleggaras are yesterday. What a difference to the other Oz wheels! I want them.
That's quick! I'll carry on dreaming about it I think. The Clio Cup race cars make it in about 10 ish secs, I read somewhere, and have about 195 horsepower. Renaultsport forum has some of the details on the car.

I think this is ace. I often think about it too. But what difference does it make to speed and driving appeal is I want to know. Has anyone recorded their 0-100 mph times, pre and post mods? A 172 Mk1 should be capable of 0-100 mph in just under 20 seconds (silver versions are slightly quicker...
The clutches are really stiff on these, I owned one for three years and broke two clutch cables! Not a bad car. I remember the occassional clicking noise, I tried spraying oil on all sorts of moving bits - never cured it. Was worse in hot weather I think.
Mike, are you referring to the performance brake pads rather than the bog standard Ferodo ones? If you are then I was going to fit them too but don't really fancy leaving things off the brakes that some clever wotsit had decided to fit. I'm probably going for an alternative make which fits...
I can see one of the rubber guide sleeves on the back brake caliper is no longer covering the pin. I tried everything to get the b*gger back on but it won't stay seated in the groove. Is it easy enough to take off and fiddle it onto its seat, anyone?
Cheers, Rob669
