Not really, the 851W's are Ethernet ports which means you would need to retain an ADSL modem. You need the 857's IIRC. Although personally I would go for the 877W's.

If the users do not have sufficient priviledges to install the updates the standard user will be offered the oppertunity to install the updates when they go to shutdown.

Nope, runs at home it runs on a server in my loft which also acts as a raid 5 fileserver. At work it runs on a dedicated system but to be honest system load is very low.
As long as you can get the capture cards working through the VM I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

What I would say is that while its not ideal to edit it with a 'normal' pc today... it wont be long before PC's have caught up.
What you can do is record your stuff in HD now, and downsample it to 720 or 480p for editing. That way in the future you will still have top quality footage.
A nightmare if you're trying to edit the raw footage TBH.
It can be done and Adobe Premier will work with the raw files but on the systems I have its a bit stuttery just on playback which in turn makes editing an knightmare.
Thats on a dual core laptop. I would imagine a new i7 with a ton...

To be honest I had kicked up that much of a fuss and thanks to J's help I got in touch with the people at the top. In the end they paid for everything. Glad to report that everything was eventually fixed and the PDR guy that came out removed all the 4 finger...
