When you connect does it say limited connectivity ? whats the model number of the router. To be honest Belkin kit is s**t.. and thats putting it nicely.
try setting a static IP (within the same subnet as your network obviously !) and manually setting the dns and gateway. Rules out any...
Check the settings on the laptop.
Find out if you laptop is correctly getting a dhcp offer, and check the settings its receiving like DNS servers, gateway etc.
The gateway determines where to send packets that are not on the same network eg. t'internet
As far as inovation in plugs goes.. kewl !!
I like that fact that one wouldn't have to rewire their house to use this new system... seems like a winner to me although I would be concerned about proper insulation through that thin plastic.
try disk cleaning products.. disk doctor etc.
Aside from that you could try as many different readers as possible.. some have better lasers than others.
Well, gave up on that bit just now as i'm too busy to worry about it..
Instead I have it set up for Layer 2 AP with IAS authentication using PEAP, TLS, MS-CHAPV2, WPA, TKIP and root certificates (I would have prefered smartcard but heyho !) deployed using AD GP.
Awesome !
I'll sort guest...

Ah.. Ok. No spare port on the gateway unfortunately.
here is the interface for the gateway on the cisco pix.
interface Ethernet1
nameif inside
security-level 100
ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0

so if I was to add a subinterface like so ?
interface Ethernet1.1
nameif inside...
Sorry aint at the router now, i'll post it up tomorrow. Remember for the most part this is acting as a Layer 2 device though ;)
'ever.... :rasp:
I want the cisco to act as a AP, and AP is really a L2 device... and to be honest it will be easier if the same Primary/backup DHCP server manages...
I am thinking along the lines of two different Vlans, with restrictions thrown into the second vlan to stop it accessing anything on 192.168.1.* except our gateway to the net which is 192.168.1.254.
Hmm.. I am doing Cisco course but only on Sem 2.. and other than subnetting nothing they have...
Hi Cisco peeps,
Got an 871W (1 x WAN 4 x LAN), trying to set it up so
1) it transmitts two SSID's (1 Main SSID and 1 Guest SSID)
2) The main SSID give access to all internal and the internet and gets its ip from our dhcp server (this is working great !)
3) The Guest gives only access to the...
Ye its actually quite good ! I can see myself using this quite a bit... Unlike Home which I never use.
Got quite a playlist now... some crackin toones on there !
Two niggles..
1) Wish the videos would go full screen (like proper full screen as they all seem 4:3)
2) It wouldn't pop up every now and again with some sponsorship things.. ye I know they need to pay for it somehow and I don't mind them on the selections screen etc.
Now listening to Lady...
iii)
A /31 bit subnet give you 2 address's per subnet, but as you have a network address and a broadcast address this leaves you with no useable address's.
iv)
EIGRP is a distance vector protocol.
Ah ok.. makes more sense. ;)
Do you intend on doing the other exams then ? if you're looking to get into I.T. i suppose its not a bad place to start, might want to think about MCDST though as an entry level cert.
Then get a support job and get the employer to pay for the rest..
I have, but on a more specific subject.
General stuff I would ask would be simple things like..
If you needed to reconfigure the core kernel using basic I/O algorithms using nothing but base16 math, what would your equation look like...
Just basic stuff any decent tech would know TBH.
