Ye if the hard drive is ticking/clicking then its a sure sign of a controller failure. You could probably get your data back if you had an exact same version of the hard drive that broken as you could just 'borrow' the controller from that.. And for next time.. always backup !!

Its easy to set up different methods of notification depending on the time of day... you can also set up event severity eg. not be notified of smaller failures until 8am or whenever. Very flexible bit of software.
