Ye, I can see why you got confused.
Its actually listed as having a 1080P scaler chip, which means it will happily accept 1080P but is then processed to look the best it can on what is a 720p screen.
g40steve, I stand corrected. I honest thought Plamsa would still draw more power than LCD when both were fully on...
Certainly on standby mode though LCD wins..
lol..
One of the buildings is called 'GetaLife'
and one of the adverstised drinks is called 'Sprunk'
and a new burger from Burger Stop called the 'Heart Stopper'
PMSL..
This game looks awesome... cant wait!
Its been plagued with problems.. so much so that toshiba (IIRC) have walked away and sold all their rights to SED technology..
I would put money on the fact that it will be delayed..
Just to correct.. in about 15 years of constant usage they would reach their 'half-life'. which means they will still work fine, they will just be half as bright as they were when they were new.
Sorry, I ordered the 42" not the 37... heh..
Ive done a LOT of research on this screen.. it looks awesome.. I get mine delivered this comming wednesday so will let you know if it lives up to its name.
LCD on standby uses virtually no electricity.. plamsa doesnt fair so well and is better to be turned off using the 'hard' off switch.
Thats why most LCD's dont have a 'hard' off switch.
If im being honest.. (im a plasma fanboy)
Plasma uses a lot more electricity compared to LCD.. generates more heat as a byproduct, but does have much better contrast and will own LCD's when it comes to fast moving video..
But then we do have image retention problems..
hence why I said...
Just ordered that exact model, but not from there.. I got it from john lewis as you get a 5 year no quibble warranty.. !
The PX70 is one of thee best plasmas out there just now (for that price bracket)
This has actually been comming for a while.. they did a survery of user requests and the biggest request they got was to ship their desktops with a linux pre-installed option.
Nice to see such a big company taking on linux as a desktop OS. I hope it works out well for them.
To sum up the LCD/Plasma battle,
If your mainly going to use it for console gaming.. go LCD.
If your mainly going to use it for watching TV/Movies go Plasma
That guy is an idiot..
Compiling the kernel at boot ? ok then ..
Logging in as root to start an X environment ?
The guy even clicks the show desktop button when he doesnt even have any windows open lol..
Sony.. unlike M$ (evilness) support the user installing linux onto the PS3 out the box.. infact they also have supported the creation of folding@home software which runs within the linux enviroment..
Basically you can have yourself a linux supercomputer !!
What they should have done is shipped the new 360 with the hd-dvd drive built in.. then I would have bought one.. then it would have been worth making a new version..
as it stands I wont be chopping in my 360 for one of them..
