Yeah I suppose wheel acid is fairly strong acid isn't it, not the kindest substance! I was just under the impression white spirit might disolve the clearcoat or something but I'll take your word on it mate!
Yeah I agree Paul some people just buy things because they are expensive and assume they are good, I will happilly buy cheap if I can if the results are good, but just not really ever really needed to use white spirits, use clay/ wheel acid on wheels if they are bad, or glue and tar remover...
I only thought it might as when I took my car to the bodyshop ages ago to look at my front bit that had been sprayed badly before I purchased it, he literally wiped some thinners over it with a cloth and the paint came off (much to my horror!!!) - I just thought white spirit and thinners were...
I like it, can get it in a larger size now to which works out even cheaper. Think the Victorias Super Soap I have now leaves a better finish on a waxed car but doesn't bubble...well hardly at all! Plus its quite expensive, I think this is a better option, although got Shampoo Plus which will...
For a man that seals the bottom of his car I would expect nothing less! ;)
Isn't white spirit similar to thinners though, which bodyshops use to remove paint from cars? Could be wrong but I would be careful Paul!
That is mint work, just not sure a Beetle deserves all that TLC, not my favourite car in the world!! :rasp: Surprised it came up so well though, must have had a good life, the interior looks like new especially!
Great little project here, really doing a good job it seems...v impressed by all the electrical wiring too, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin! Looking forward to seeing how it all develops! :D
Mint car mate, not sure exactly what it would be worth but the condition will def help the sale price...saw a white Meg Sport earlier, think it might be the new Lux edition or whatever its called, with gloss black wheels, looked awesome!
Cool I am of a similar opinion. If I thought I was in the wrong I would have appologised ages ago, when I have said stuff in the heat of the moment I have, but on this occassion I don't think I have so I won't be.
We will leave it at that.
Good stuff. I would get the Onyx to begin with, I have it and really is brilliant. If durability is an issue just apply twice as often as BoS! It really does leave a great finish though.
Listen son, I sent Matt a PM as I didn't really like my good name being tarnished by the way you decided to interpret my words. If Matt or yourself had a problem you should have PM me rather than trying to make out I said something bad, ok my phrasing wasn't suffixed with flowery roses but it...
Jesus, what is everyones problem on here?!?
My financial situation is absolutely none of your concern mate, but no I'm not exactly swimming in it right now if that makes you feel any better? I gave MY opinion and some advice and then some of you are making out like I was out of order, to be...
I used to use some Turtle Extreme shampoo or something, came in a green bottle, and remember thinking it was pretty good...oribably was s**t but better than the Mer stuff we used at work which was lame.
Oh right sorry no! Normally always the front end and any curbed alloys, then anything else that needs doing, but it looks absolutely spot on, like new. My front end is in ok shape, no real marks but after 36k miles there are a few little tiny chip marks if you look close up, I think my car is...
Near where I live there is a massive Porsche dealership (think its the largest in Europe actually, its MASSIVE) but anyway in there they respray all their cars before selling them, and they all look amazing, in an ideal world I would get the 172 resprayed including in engine bay in a different...
I want to be mate all pending on the dollar situation, you got tickets for it already?
Nothing beats a minter, would quite like my whole front-end resprayed too, in fact a total respray would be where its at!
Will be interested to see what people reckon compared to Forza. Although not sure if people realise the "full version" won't be out for a year or so still, in which time Forza 3 might be out and make things very interesting...
I've got this stuff, I like using it. Not sure if there is much difference between it and SRP, maybe a bit easier to use, leaves a very good finish and smells of LEMONS...MMM!!!
Its good to use by hand though.
I use either Megs Wheel Brightener or Chemical Guys Blue Wheel Cleaner and both work well and don't corrode as long as you rinse off well and don't leave on for too long.
In CS speak..."+ 1" lol.
From what Rich and others has said BoS is only a little bit better than Onyx looks wise and a little bit more durable, a PC will make your car look a LOT better.
