Yes, buy a hauppauge nova-t dvb if you get the new style one though the IR controller can be a pain to setup, if you get the slightly older model its slot it in and your setup basically !. But the actual card will work without doing anything if you install FC4. Have a look at...

What DVB card are you using ?

Either yours or mine is fooked then.. Cause my aircon only comes on while the demist is on, or when the outside temp is generally above the inside temp ive set.

have they changed how they make super L's ? cause my Super L's were just under 5KG's lighter per corner than my standard 172 rims :S

Same here.. replaced 3 so far and the 4th im starting to hear on really hard cornering.

I never reset my counter over about 3000 miles, the MPG was reading 31.2 mpg and I do a lot of short journeys (city driving)

Ye I mean mk1s You referring to the rubber bit under the accelerator pedal then.. someone mentioned once that it had something to do with cruise control.. dont know if that was true though.

The cup uses a throttle cable. The 182 uses Fly-by-wire throttle.

Had simmilar problem on my old 205 GTI, I would go with bad on this one.. if your gonna strip it down just replace the motor and arm linkage while your at it.. chances are the motor is clapped out, deffinatly grease the linkage while you have it all out of the door though. Try and source...

An ECU reset wont help as you found out. You still have some shorted wires at the back of the car, all of the faults you mentioned point to an additional wiring fault at the rear of the car.
