Not mad.. but make sure you do as many check to make sure its legit.. get an RAC checkover for the car, he will send you a report of anything he can find wrong with it and I believe they do an HPI check on it aswell.
Ye you need the charge packs, auto levelers, the xenons bulbs and the actual headlamps, IIRC from renault it would cost £1500-2000 for all the replacement parts.
Im not sure if you would have to do anythign with the wiring looms aswell ?

During charging it should be 13+ volts.. when switched off it shouldnt be lower than 11.9 volts.
Its worth getting a volt meter and checking it out, it looks like you still have a problem with the alternator working intermitedly. I would suspect that your previous alternator hadnt given up at all.
I was just actually thinking about doing the same thing, I have a full bike license but never actually used it since I passed my test.
Was gonna buy a cheapo 125cc aprilla for going to work on everyday and other little trips and keep the car for when I need to take the GF out or need the boot...
Ye, I dont think the wd40 is the best idea..
Just drive the car slowly and gently break build it up till your driving normally again then wire brush the centre of the disc as per Toms instrucitons.
Do you hear a clicking noise when you first activate the AC ?
I had a simmilar problem with my 172, whereby you could hit the AC button but there was no click (or spindown after switching the engine off) it turned out to be a leak in the system from one of the pipes. Thankfully it was fixed...
