Ah cool, I've got a lathe at uni. I put mine back in and it's been fine, only noticeable thing is on idle occasionally can hear a clicky/knock noise from the tensioner. How much was it? Pm me if you want.
Did you fit a bigger tensioner pulley for the timing belt then and did the tensioner sit in te
right place?
How much and where from? Might have to invest in one for mine.
Definitely feels a lot faster, also feels like the throttle response is better as before I used to hate the electronic throttle, especially noticeable when heal toeing.
I got a 172 paid 2k with 72k ish on the clock, just had a head rebuild and belts done, engine went within 8k of me driving it, just goes to show that a lower mileage even with history might not last, or it could go on for years. Just buy one that drives well, has been looked after by a member on...
Me too, it's done 1000 miles now, also out ran an Ibiza pd130 with a hybrid turbos, civic ep3 with 220bhp and a fabia 2 vrs, so something's running right.
I was also getting a lot of water into where the rear seats are, I found it to be the little black caps that the boot stops sit on when the boot is closed. I took them out and put silicone around the underside of them and made sure they didn't leak any more.
I've noticed this in my mam's non...
Done a few little bits recently. I got a skoda fabia splitter to tidy up the front, i don't reccomend fitting these in a rush, on your own.. PITA, but it looks okay for now might take it off and have another go.
Was also sick of looking at wood screws poking out my reg plate so replaced them and...
My mate used to have a shed of a 1.1 106 popular, but It had a jp4 conversion, bucket seats, stripped out and an omex rev limiter than made huge bangs. He got a different girl every week in that car!
First few miles showed that I had a slight leak from a core plug so swapped that out for a new one. The car was sitting just below ideal temp. so I swapped out the thermostat and temp. sensor and its now fine and goes all the way to 7200rpm. The exhaust wasn't sitting in the hangers due to the...
Well boys and girls. Had a fight with the exhaust but managed to get it to fit, after turning it over yesterday there was only 1 problem, an o ring from the fuel line to the rail had gone so replaced that. After that she ran sweet as a nut! Left it ticking over to bleed coolant check for leaks...
Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback. My hands are cut to bits and my skin is stained with old dirty cv grease but tomorrow should be a fun day! Finger crossed the tensioner is okay!
Some pictures from today's progress. Tomorrow's job is to fiddle with the exhaust to match the new manifold and decat, turn it over to get some oil pressure, plug coilpack in and hopefully she'll fire up. Can then let it heat up, let the heat wrap smoke, top up the coolant, keep and eye out for...
0.2mm, so theoretically increasing belt length by 0.4mm, which is nothing really. Not sure what it could be causing it to sit where it is. Seems I'm not the only person that's had a non vertical sitting tensioner though.
Tension indicators are miles away Fred, how much of an issue is it having the tensioner sat where it is?
Mini182 it's sat exactly the same as yours was, but my timing looks okay, after several rotations of the engine the cam horse shoe and crank pin go in no problem.
Yeah!
Engine is built back up, I put the timing belt on and I think due to the head being skimmed, the tensioner is sitting a bit further round than it should. Will have to run it and see how it goes. Got rid of the aircon and the aux belt is on.
Just put flywheel and clutch on, after Ive had...
