Renault going all electric from 2025

You might be right, you might not. No-one has made a genuinely driver focused EV yet. In development terms these are very, very early days. Obviously things like heel and toe are dead and gone, but then they only exist to get around the deficiencies of the drivetrain anyway and are a seriously...

Renault going all electric from 2025

It goes on, but the aftermarket always finds a way. Wasn't so long ago that the coding of car modules/ECUs to the car as an anti-theft protection (allegedly) was supposed to be doom for any DIY, but now coding modules is just normal. When the volume is sufficient, those protections will be...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Zoe has had some fairly serious issues with the battery management system, mostly handled under warranty thankfully. A lot of the battery degradation on early EVs like the Leaf was because they were air cooled and also quite early battery chemistries. A lot of learning and improvement has...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Again, disagree. The technology so far has been proven to be very long lasting and as they become more and more common the aftermarket will catch up. It's not like you can't buy a 3rd party battery or charger for a laptop. I know the battery management units on a car are a totally different...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Disagree - maybe it's because I'm comfortable with electronics, but I am far less worried about being able to fix an EV motor than an engine. They are very simple things. Likewise, identifying and swapping out dead battery cells, no worries. It's just a different skill set. OK there is the...

Renault going all electric from 2025

I do think it's a real shame that we have to lose genuinely good, tuneful ICE engines alongside all the drek. Is anyone really going to miss boggo four pot engines though? Doubt it.

Renault going all electric from 2025

Well, the German car industry is lobbying hard along those lines for sure. But none of it matters, the existing next phase of EU emissions rules are so strict that manufacturers are halting development of ICE as they are becoming uneconomic and the writing is on the wall anyway. They would need...

Supercharged LY 200 (ex Dream car giveaways)

I chatted to the seller a bit, seems like a nice guy and all the answers were pretty much what I wanted to hear. Shame it hasn't got the original seatbelts as harnesses are not my thing on the road, for them to be any use at all they are so restrictive. Not hard to put back in though. Anyway I...

Supercharged LY 200 (ex Dream car giveaways)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204034580412 Very nice. It’s on FB too, seller wants £14k and change which seems a bit toppy but it’s got all the spec. Think it’s pretty well known as being a good build? Certainly has the right names attached to it, Rensport, EFI, engine dynamics. Surprised it...

    Fiat Cinquecento

I don’t know what you mean. Sturdy little things. The panel with the fuel filler in it would certainly never flex when you put the nozzle from the pump in the filler. Very reassuring 😂

    Fiat Cinquecento

I commuted from Winchester to Newbury in one for over a year. Many a sales rep was startled by a tiny little red car overtaking them verrrrrry sloooowly. The uphill bits of the A34 were a challenge though 🤪

    Fiat Cinquecento

How I wish that had the Trofeo turbo conversion on it. Also, needs a set of Turinis (obligatory comment)

Clio mk4 rs200 Sport - Pre-purchase inspection revealed error codes

Ah, that is a battery tester, so it should give an indication of whether the battery needs to be replaced or not. It’s saying good/recharge so doesn’t look like it needs a battery. It’s either just been sitting for a while or isn’t charging - but I’d hope they’d be able to tell you if the...

Clio mk4 rs200 Sport - Pre-purchase inspection revealed error codes

They could easily just be due to low battery voltage. Just a code read is fairly useless for issues like that, they should reset them and see if they come back. Misfires or other more serious codes are different. Not sure how good the inspection was if they didn’t even stick a proper battery...

Nice MoT history on this one

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363855386608 Oddly, the listing fails to mention : Offside Front Suspension component mounting prescribed area excessively damaged significantly reducing structural strength (5.3.6 (a) (i)) Going back through the MoT history is...... well...... it's something :ROFLMAO:

Widest tyre on a 182 FF

What's the car used for? Honestly, if it's a road car I really wouldn't bother going wider. If you're genuinely getting close to the limits of grip on a 182 on the road then I'd start with the basics, are all the bushes in good order, how old are the shocks, when's the last time the car had an...

    SQL help

Ah, OK, fair enough. What tool are you using to run the SQL? Is it MS Access/SQL Developer/Something else? At the moment all I can really suggest is doing a text search through the SQL and looking for anywhere that Column1 is being set, probably look something like "@Column1 = <something>"
  23. charltjr

    SQL help

Is it part of a stored procedure? It would be horrendous from a readability perspective, but if they're defining @Column1 somewhere then that could do it. When you say SQL, do you mean MSSQL or one of the other types?

My Mk 5 Golf GTi, with a minor issue

Nice project car with a minor issue, probably an easy fix, just don't have time to do it myself. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325179753286 Yeah, OK, it needs an engine. Twenty minute job for someone with the right skills, amiright?

What's your favourite car related YouTube channel?

Oh my word. I know of the foibles of this engine. And the supercharger. They are not cheap to keep on top of.
