    Bitcoins (and other crypto currencies)

I think it means that every time someone trades that cryptocurrency then anyone holding it gets a cut of the fees. The more active the market is, the more fees. I think 😂 I‘m still just mining and selling up every month. Nice little bit of income.

30 series cards are available again, prices still aren’t down to sensible levels but definitely down from the peak. Overclockers and box.co.uk consistently have stock at the moment, although it does vary day to day.

    Remap advice for 200

IIRC they are mainly mapped just to get rid of the flatspot which is some emissions related guffery to make the numbers look better in the old tests.

No cat either, what's the betting they've weighed that in as they're fetching a good price.

Probably, to be fair I've not done it for a long, long time. Talking about graphics card vs CPU vs memory took me back to upgrading to a 3dfx Voodoo 2 from an original Voodoo.....

Not sure that it isn't more a correction of the crazy price rises if you look at the price over the last year

Yeah you’ve always got to find and fix the bottleneck for the games you like to play. 200fps in CS:GO or whatever is meaningless if you play something CPU intensive.

Changing that lot underneath Windows is a big ask IMO, I’ve never known a complete mobo and CPU brand swap not need a reinstall.

They'll have to break the mining lock on them to be worthwhile, 25MH/s for 3070 and 43MH/s for 3080 makes them not worth the investment. If they work with the dev drivers which get round the lockout on the 3060 then sure they'll be hoovered up but if not then there won't be any point until the...

I’m still waiting for coinbase to validate my account, it’s been eight days now. Not impressed with their support, it’s like a bot is answering. I got an email saying I had access to buy, sell and withdraw etc, but when I log on it says my account is being reviewed. Asked them if it was normal...

What's that BBC? Cryptocurrencies are volatile you say? Well done. Can't imagine why :ROFLMAO: Honestly, if Rory Cellan-Jones rolls out his story about buying a pizza with half a bitcoin "back in the day" one more time..... Coinbase was reporting earlier today that the crash was bottoming out...

Nice temps. 76C on the memory is nothing, its rated for something in the high 90C range IIRC. I’m running 82C water cooled but I like it quiet.

Overclockers had some stock of RX 5700 XTs at not-especially-obscene prices, I was weak, and out came the credit card. I feel so dirty. Three months ago I was all "goddamn mining scum, driving the prices of cards through the roof, what are us poor gamers supposed to do". Shhhh don't tell anyone...

Anyone know how NiceHash works out daily profitability? I’m confused, ETH and BTC have both fallen today, but my daily profitability in £ is showing much better than yesterday - by about 25%. My hash rates are still the same, but does the amount of work your miner gets allocated vary or...

    Bitcoins (and other crypto currencies)

Yeah scalper pricing is just insane. I'm trying to stay off the beaten track as much as possible and praying the market doesn't completely crash. Basically if it looks like it pays for itself in three to six months I'm happy enough, then if it actually becomes unprofitable I can just sell the...

    Bitcoins (and other crypto currencies)

Well, BTC has basically lost the jump it made when Tesla said they'd take it, which reduces profitability, which incentivises miners to use the cheapest power available to them...... 🤷‍♂️ (OK, let's face it, they don't need incentivising to do that, but it makes about as much sense as the crap...

Stuck a power meter on my PC, when mining it’s pulling about 270W total, something like £1.20 a day in electricity, so that’s good. I really ducked up earlier today though.... was building up a pc out of some spare bits. Somehow, and I still don‘t know how or why, I put the CPU in the wrong...

The whole mining thing is f-ing crazy. RTX 3060Ti are routinely going for over a grand on eBay. A grand! You can see the impact mining is having because the 3070 is going for basically the same money and they achieve pretty much the same mining hash rate. Pretty much all the cards on eBay are...

Card on it's own is pulling circa 200W so I'm guestimating 300w to be on the paranoid side. My tariff is 16.7p per kw/h. Might grab a wattage meter out of curiosity at some point.

Thought I’d turn the fans right up, got the VRAM temp down to 66. Not worth the extra noise IMO. When air cooled, what I’m doing now just wasn’t possible. The card would be thermal throttling with the VRAM at 108C at a lower overclock (not that I tried at those temps for more than a few...
